GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University men's basketball team fell by a 63-58 final to Rutgers-Newark in non-conference play inside Alumni Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Dom Vazquez finished with a season-high 20 points to lead all scorers while
Jalen Watkins,
Justin Money, and
Nas Johnson all added 11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Rutgers-Newark raced out to a 5-0 lead before Watkins hit two free throws to get the Knights on the board.
-From there, the Scarlet Raiders went on a 20-9 run, reaching their largest lead of the game at 25-11 with 5:37 left until halftime.
-Arcadia cut the deficit in half, trailing 34-27 going into the break.
-After Rutgers-Newark got the first bucket of the second half, the Knights used a 6-0 run to make the score 36-33 with 17:30 on the clock.
-The Scarlet Raiders ended the run with back-to-back three-pointers to make the score 42-33.
-Arcadia went on a 16-5 run to take its first lead at 49-47 following a three-pointer from Money.
-Rutgers-Newark retook the advantage with a 5-0 run, holding a 52-49 lead with 9:50 on the clock.
-The Knights got three pointers from Johnson, Tre DiGuglielmo, and a dunk from Watkins to reach a 57-52 edge with just under six minutes left.
-The Scarlet Raiders finished the contest on an 11-1 run to secure the game.
