Women's Basketball Falls in MAC Freedom Quarterfinals at King's
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. –
Julia Makowski finished with a team-high 24 points as the No. 6 Arcadia University women's basketball team fell to No. 3 King's College in the quarterfinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) tournament by a 74-67 final on Wednesday evening.
The Knights conclude the season with a 7-17 overall record.
Arcadia began the game on a 9-0 run with
Holly Daveski and Makowski accounting for all the points, forcing King's into a 30 second timeout with 5:28 left in the first quarter. The Monarchs closed the quarter on an 11-3 run to cut the Knights lead to 12-11 through 10 minutes.
Scarlett Glasser-Nehls hit a three-pointer to open the second quarter giving Arcadia a 15-11 lead, but King's took control of the second quarter outscoring Arcadia 21-10 as the Knights entered halftime facing a 32-25 deficit.
Arcadia trailed by as much as 14 in the third with the score reading 57-47 after three quarters.
The Knights battled back to start the fourth, making the tally 63-60 with 4:22 on the clock, but the Monarchs hit their free-throws, maintaining their advantage as the final buzzer sounded.
Makowksi finished with 24 points to go with three rebounds and four assists. Glasser-Nehls added 20 points, three rebounds, and four assists with
Mara Weaver adding eight points and eight rebounds.
Samantha Rajza led King's with 39 points. Emily Kriston added 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
