19 Consecutive Goals Lift Men's Lacrosse to First Win of Season
 
GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team scored the first 19 goals of the game to earn its first win of 2022, defeating Marywood University by a 19-4 final on Saturday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field.
 
The Knights now stand at 1-1 on the season.
 
Wesley Sporer got the scoring started for Arcadia with 10:14 left on the clock when he found the back of the net with an assist from Kyle McLaughlin. Brady Manion doubled the advantage with 6:52 remaining in the first quarter with an assist from Tyler Ravenelle.
 
The Knights got a man-up opportunity when the Pacers were called for a slash, and Billy Burton made the most of it when he increased the advantage to 3-0 assisted by McLaughlin.
 
Burton scored a second goal with 11 seconds left on the clock, and off the ensuing face-off James Barretta picked up the ground ball and streaked up the field, lining a shot past Marywood's goalkeeper as time expired to give Arcadia a 5-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.
 
Brian Albertsen continued the scoring for the Knights at 12:20 with an assist from Manion to increase the lead to 6-0. Landan Hajek got in the goal column with an unassisted tally at 10:46 before Albertsen notched two consecutive unassisted goals at 7:36 and 6:50, respectively. Alex Adamczyk (Manion), Sporer (unassisted), and Ryan Anderson (unassisted) rounded out the first half scoring as Arcadia entered the break holding a 12-0 lead.
 
Adamczyk opened the second half scoring at 8:58 with a helper from McLaughlin. Joe Marchesano found the back of the net at 8:51 followed by Sean Connolly getting into the scoring column assisted by Manion making the score 15-0 Knights. Albertsen (unassisted) and Burton (Albertsen) finished the third quarter scoring as Arcadia led 17-0 after 45 minutes of play.
 
Chase Stephens got help from Manion to open the fourth quarter with a goal at 13:44 before Manion scored unassisted at 10:36 to finish the scoring for the Knights.
 
Marywood tallied four goals to end the game.
 
Manion finished with seven points on two goals and five assists while Albertsen had four goals and one assists for five points. In all, 13 players for Arcadia registered at least one point on the afternoon.
 
Timmy Fyock earned his first win of the season with a perfect afternoon, stopping all 10 shots sent his way over the first 43:43.
 
The Knights held a 60-29 advantage on shot attempts, 41-17 lead in shots on goal, 55-26 lead on groundballs, and held the Pacers to just a 48 percent (14-29) success rate on clears, while converting 91 percent (20-22) of their own.
 
Arcadia returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to York College for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game.
