PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Arcadia University baseball team upset No. 5 North Central, 11-6, on Wednesday afternoon in its finale at the Snowbird Classic. The Knights improved to 11-3 with the victory.
It is the Knights' second victory over a ranked opponent at the classic, as they defeated then-No.22 Denison on Sunday. North Central is the highest ranked opponent the Knights have defeated in program history, topping the previous best of No. 7 TCNJ on April 23, 2019.
Eight different Knights recorded a hit in the game, with five tallying two hits. Emilio Pallante went 2-for-3 with three RBI's, including a two-run bunt single. Griffin Murphy had two RBI's on a single in the Knights' eight-run third inning. Connor Cheeseman and Justin Massielo both had two hits and two RBI's in the victory. Alex Madera had two hits and one RBI for Arcadia.
Zach Steiger got the start for the Knights and pitched four innings, giving up three runs and striking out three. Nadell Booker got his second victory of the season, pitching three innings in relief. He gave up one run on two hits, and struck out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

North Central scored two runs in the second inning, and added one more in the third to take a 3-0 lead.

Arcadia exploded for eight runs in the home half of the third inning. With the bases loaded, Madera scored on a wild pitch. Massielo then brought home Hunter Curley and Joseph Kumar with a double to tie the game at three. Cheeseman had an RBI single to give the Knights the lead, followed by a two RBI single from Murphy to extend the Arcadia lead to 6-3. Pallante then laid down a bunt and the Knights scored two more runs to take an 8-3 lead.

The Knights scored two more runs in the fifth inning as Pallante laid down a sacrifice bunt that brought home a run and Madera singled back up the middle, bringing home Murphy.

Cheeseman got the Knights on the board again in the sixth as he doubled down the left field line, bringing home Massielo for an 11-3 advantage.

North Central scored a run in the seventh and two in the eighth, but Owen Margolis took the mound in the ninth inning to close out the win for Arcadia.
