Griffith Stops 14 Shots in Women's Lacrosse Defeat to Swarthmore
 
GLENSIDE – Emily Griffith stopped 14 shots for the Arcadia University women's lacrosse team in its defeat to Swarthmore College by a 16-7 final in non-conference play at Jean Lenox West Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Knights stand at 2-6 on the season.
 
Swarthmore netted the first two goals of the contest before Ashley Starkey got Arcadia on the board with an unassisted tally just under six minutes into the first quarter.
 
The Garnet responded with two more goal,s but Hannah McAllister and Starkey got the Knights to within 4-3 with 2:31 remaining in the first.
 
Swarthmore scored the last two goals of the first and the first three of the second quarter, leading 9-3 with 7:35 left until halftime.
 
Tessa O'Donnell stopped the run with a goal assisted by Maddie Ruger. The Garnet netted a goal before halftime with Arcadia trailing 10-4 heading into the break.
 
Swarthmore broke through three times to begin the second half, leading 13-4 after three quarters. Starkey got the Knights back into the scoring column with an unassisted tally followed by O'Donnell and Ruger teaming up again to trim the deficit to 13-6 with 10:27 left in the game.
 
The Garnet finished the game scoring three more times sandwiched around McAllister's second tally of the contest.
 
Griffith made several point-blank saves among the 14 stops that she registered.
 
Starkey led the way with three points while Skylar Acker totaled four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Griffith added six groundballs, followed by McAllister and Diana Perry with four each.
 
Arcadia returns to action on Wednesday when it will host Gwynedd Mercy University for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game at Jean Lenox West Field.
