Baseball Continues Winning Streak with Doubleheader Sweep
 
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The No. 8/14 Arcadia University baseball team moved its win streak to six, finishing off its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) sweep of Delaware Valley University after taking game one 19-1 and game two 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The Knights improved to 14-1 in conference play and 28-4 overall.  
 
Arcadia was first to put runs on the board again today in the first inning with four runs. Hunter Curley led off with a hit by pitch, followed by a Justin Massielo single to right center advancing Curley to second. Connor Cheeseman singled to right field advancing Massielo to third and bringing Curley home to score. Joseph Kumar reached on an RBI fielder's choice when the shortstop threw Cheeseman out at second allowing Massielo to cross the plate. Kumar stole second and then advance to third on an error by the catcher, followed by Ryan Smolen with a two-run home to left. 
 
The Knights expanded their lead in the second inning when Curley hit a two-out infield single followed by Massielo reaching on an error by the third baseman allowing him to advance to second and bringing Curley in to score. 
 
Arcadia continued to extend its lead in the fourth inning when Nick Bon Tempo reached on a one-out walk and moved to third on Massielo's two-out single to center. Alex Madera singled to right bringing home Bon Tempo and moving Massielo to third before advancing to second. Cheeseman brought both runners home with a single to left making the score 8-0.
 
The Knights' offense continued to overpower Aggie pitching, scoring six runs int the fifth, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh.
 
Nick Fossile started on the mound for the Knights improving his record to 4-0, pitching the first five innings allowing one run on three hits, with four strikeouts and one walk. Mitch Whitney and Colin Bowdish each pitched one scoreless inning to finish off the game for the Knights.
 
Smolen led the Knights offense going 2-for-4 with four RBI's and two runs scored including his first homerun of the season. Massielo, Madera, Zachary Sekelick, and Emilio Pallante each also added two hits. 
 
The Knights stayed hot heading into the second game, scoring in the first inning when Madera hit a two-out infield single, stole second, and scored on Cheeseman's single to left. 
 
Arcadia doubled its lead in the top of the second when Pallante reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and third, and came in on a Griffin Murphy sacrifice fly.
 
Pallante led off the top of the fourth with a single to right field followed by a single to left field by Curley advancing Pallante to second. Massielo reached on a fielder's choice allowing Curley to move to second on a throwing error by the shortstop and scoring Pallante. Massielo and Curley pulled of a double steal putting runners on second and third followed by a sacrifice fly from Madera scoring Curley.
 
Delaware Valley scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to reach the final. 
 
Hunter Sibley started game two for the Knights, improving his record to 5-1, pitching the first six innings allowing one run on four hits, with four strikeouts and two walks. Owen Margolis came in to pitch the last inning allowing no hits or runs with one strikeout for the save. 
 
The Knights return to action on Tuesday when they will host Rutgers-Camden in a 3:30 p.m. non-conference game at Skip Wilson Field.
