Men's Volleyball Falls to Top-Seeded Stevens in MAC Semifinals

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The fifth-seeded Arcadia University men's volleyball team fell in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Semifinals to top-seeded Stevens, 3-1, on Wednesday night.  

The Knights finish the 2022 season with a record of 12-17.  

Collin Nissley led the Knights with 20 kills and a .317 hitting percentage. Quinn Baily added 10 kills for the Knights. Anthony Devantier dished out 43 assists in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Set 1: Stevens 25, Arcadia 22 

The Knights held an early 7-4 lead, but Stevens battled back to tie the set at seven. Stevens took the lead for good in the frame after a 4-0 run gave it a 15-13 advantage. The Knights would get within two at 24-22, but the Ducks won the final point of the set to take an early lead in the match.  

Set 2: Arcadia 25, Stevens 16 

Arcadia won the first four points of the set, and continued that momentum to extend its lead to 14-6 forcing Stevens to call a timeout. The Ducks went on an 8-3 run to cut the Arcadia lead to 21-16, forcing a Knights timeout. Arcadia won the next four points out of the timeout to tie the match at one.  

Set 3: Stevens 25, Arcadia 18 

The teams traded the opening points of the set until Stevens won three straight, giving it an 8-5 advantage. After Arcadia cut the Stevens lead to 9-8, the Ducks went on a 4-1 run, giving them a 13-9 lead, forcing a Knights timeout. The Ducks took the next point out of the timeout, but the Knights answered with three straight, forcing a Stevens timeout with the Ducks leading 14-12. After Stevens' timeout, it won 5-of-7 points, taking a 19-14 lead. The Ducks would continue to lead for the rest of the set, giving them a 2-1 lead in the match. 

Set 4: Stevens 25, Arcadia 20 

The Knights took a 15-13 lead through a 4-0 run, forcing a Stevens timeout. After the Ducks called a timeout, they went on a 6-2 run, taking a 19-17 lead, forcing a Knights timeout. Arcadia won the next point out of the timeout to get within a point, but that is the closest that it would get as Stevens closed out the set and took the match victory.
