ANNVILLE, Pa. - The No. 7/10 Arcadia Baseball Team earned eight spots on the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) All-Conference Teams, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Shortstop Alex Madera was named the MAC Freedom Player of the Year. This is the second consecutive year that Arcadia has earned player of the year honors as Trevor Mattson earned the honor last season. Head Coach Bryan Torresani was named the MAC Freedom Coach of the Year, the second time that he was given the award in his career.
Madera was also named to the All-MAC Freedom First Team along with Owen Margolis, Justin Massielo, Connor Cheeseman and Hunter Curley. Hunter Sibley and Ryan Smolen were named to the All-MAC Freedom Second Team.
Madera is named to the first team for the second consecutive season. He started in 44 games for the Knights and led the team with a .444 batting average, which is the second-best mark in the conference. He led the conference in hits with 74, stolen bases with 34 and his 58 runs scored led the conference as well. His 34 stolen bases are a new single-season program record. He added nine doubles, four triples and 27 RBI's.
Margolis is named to his second All-MAC Freedom Team in his career after he was named an honorable mention last season. The right-handed pitched led the conference with a 10-0 record and nine saves, both of which set new single season program records for Arcadia. He also led the conference in ERA with a 1.85. In 48.2 innings pitched, Margolis allowed only 10 earned runs on 44 hits and 12 walks. He struck out 37 batters this season.
Massielo earns his first all-conference honor of his career in 2022. The junior second baseman had a .388 batting average, which was the seventh best among all players in the conference. Massielo had 66 hits, which was second in the conference behind Madera. He was tied for the most doubles in the MAC Freedom with 16, and had the fourth most RBI's in the conference with 41.
Cheeseman is named to an All-MAC Freedom Team for the second consecutive season after being named to the All-MAC Freedom Second Team last season. He led the Knights in RBI's and was tied for the lead in the conference with 48. He had a .306 batting average with 48 hits, seven doubles, four homers and one triple.
Curley earns his first all-conference honor after making appearances all around the diamond this season for the Knights. The junior finished with a 4-2 record, pitching 58 innings for the Knights, including a complete game shutout against Mary Washington. He had a 3.57 ERA and struck out 41 batters. At the plate he had a .316 batting average on 43 hits, and added 20 RBI's.
In his first season with the Knights, Sibley earns a spot on the all-conference team. He finished with a 7-2 record, pitching 69 innings this season, the third most in the conference and had a 3.78 ERA. His seven wins are the fourth most among all pitchers in the conference. He struck out 64 batters, the second-most in the MAC Freedom.
Smolen is named to the All-MAC Freedom Second Team for the second consecutive season as he hit .270 and had 24 RBI's. He had two home runs, 11 doubles and four triples this season.
