No. 2 Men's Lacrosse Falls to Top-Seeded Stevens in MAC Freedom Championship

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dropped a tightly contested game to top-seeded Stevens, 12-10, in the MAC Freedom Championship game.  

Arcadia finishes the season with a 12-6 record.  

The Knights had seven different goal scorers in the game, led by Brian Albertsen who found the back of the net three times. Wesley Sporer added two goals for Arcadia. Brady Manion was the top point-getter for the Knights as he had one goal and dished out a game-high four assists for five points.  

Timmy Fyock manned the crease for the Knights and made 13 saves in the defeat. He also picked up three ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Knights controlled much of the opening stages of play in the first quarter, but Stevens managed to score the first two goals of the game. Justin Chinici got the Knights on the board to cut their deficit to 2-1. The Ducks scored with 40 seconds left in the opening quarter to take a 3-1 lead.  

  • Sporer opened the scoring in the second quarter as he found the back of the net 40 seconds into the frame to cut Arcadia's deficit to 3-2. Stevens then scored three straight goals in just over two minutes to take a 6-2 lead. Manion ended the run with a goal to cut the Ducks lead to 6-3, which would stand as the score line at the halftime break.  

  • Stevens scored the opening goal of the third quarter, but Landan Hajek answered a minute later to make the score 7-4. The Ducks made the score 8-4 with a goal 30 seconds later. Sporer scored his second of the game and final goal of the quarter to get the Knights within three, 8-5 at the end of the third quarter. 

  • The Ducks scored the first goal of the final quarter, but Arcadia scored the next two through Billy Burton and McLaughlin to cut the Stevens lead to 9-7. The Ducks answered the two-goal run with one of their own to push their lead to 11-7. Albertsen scored to get the Knights within, three but Stevens answered with a goal to maintain the four-goal lead. Arcadia made a push at the end with two consecutive goals but time ran out for the Knights as they fell 12-10.
