No. 6/9 Baseball Splits with DeSales, Winner Take All Scheduled for Monday at 3:30 p.m.
 
AMBLER – After falling 10-6 in game one, the No. 6/9 Arcadia University baseball team, the No. 1 seed in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Championship, used stellar relief pitching and timely hitting to take game two 5-0, forcing a winner-take-all game three on Monday.
 
The Knights stand at 35-7 after Sunday's action.
 
Arcadia got on the board in the bottom of the first in game one when Alex Madera reached on an infield single, moved to second when Hunter Curley walked, advanced to second on Justin Massielo's fly out, and scored on a groundout from Connor Cheeseman.
 
The Knights doubled their lead in the bottom of the fourth when Matthew Sot singled up the middle scoring Zachary Sekelick, who reached with a perfect push bunt single.
 
Arcadia added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Madera double to left-center scoring Sot and a Brandon Colon singled to right bringing in Madera.
 
The Knights finished the scoring in the bottom of the eighth when Sot put down a safety squeeze scoring Sekelick.
 
Zach Steiger improved to 6-0, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings in relief allowing three hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Owen Margolis earned the save, coming into the game with runners at second and third and one out and working out of the jam, allowing only one hit across 4.2 innings with zero walks and four strikeouts.
 
The Knights opened the scoring in game two when Madera led off with a single, stole second, moved to third on a flyout, and scored on a sacrifice fly from Massielo.
 
DeSales pushed across six runs in the top of the fifth, one in the sixth, and two in the 7th to take a 9-1 lead.
 
Arcadia battled back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Sekelick triple that scpred Griffin Murphy followed by a single to left from Madera that brought home Sekelick.
 
Cheeseman cut the deficit to 9-5 on a two-run homer followed later in the inning by a run-scoring single from Madera that brought in Smolen making the score 9-6 before the Bulldogs added a 10th run on a wild pitch in the ninth.
 
Hunter Sibley fell to 6-2 with the game one loss, allowing four runs on six hits across 4.2 innings with two walks and six strikeouts.
 
The two teams will meet again Monday at 3:30 for a deciding game three at Skip Wilson Field.
