Adam Hamad Named Head Men’s Volleyball Coach

GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Adam Hamad as the new Head Men's Volleyball Coach. Hamad will begin his duties at Arcadia on July 18th.

Hamad comes to Glenside after most recently serving as the Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach at the University of Charleston in Charleston, W.V. since 2020. In that role, Hamad assisted in recruiting, monitored academic progress, set up a shared system to include film, notes, and stats, planned and organized practice, and served as an interim head coach. While with the Golden Eagles, Hamad coached five All-Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) selections, including the first honoree in program history. In addition, Hamad mentored a player who signed to play professionally overseas.

"I want to thank Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation (Brian) Granata, Assistant Director of Athletics (Brett) Mariani, and the entire administration for this great opportunity," Hamad said. "It is an honor to be named Head Men's Volleyball Coach at Arcadia University and I cannot wait to be part of such a great program and department."

Prior to his time at Charleston, Hamad served as an assistant at the University of Mount Union and the men's and women's assistant at Hiram College, where he assisted in practice planning, worked with student-athletes regarding mental health skills, and helped implement team organization updates during COVID-19. While with the Purple Raiders and Terriers, Hamad mentored nine All-Conference selections as well as multiple players that finished at the top of the national rankings in their respective statistics.

"Coach Hamad brings a wealth of coaching experience to Arcadia and will be able to lean on his experiences at Division III schools like Hiram and Mount Union to support our student-athletes in the classroom and on the court," Granata explained. "We are confident in his abilities to lead our team and return it to a championship-level program. Coach Hamad is a driven and organized individual that is well-equipped to guide Arcadia men's volleyball in the years to come."

Hamad also has experience at the club and high school level, spending two seasons as the Head Coach at Tallmadge High School, and one season as the 12U Head Coach at Everest Volleyball Club. While at Tallmadge, Hamad coached the team to two Hilltopper Invitational Championships and a runner-up finish in Division II District Three in 2016. At Everest, Hamad's team finished second in the Ohio Valley Region Tournament for USA Volleyball and led the team to three top-three finishes in tournaments.

"I am excited to work with the entire University to help these young athletes achieve their goals on the court, in the classroom, and beyond to become the young people they aspire to be," Hamad explained. "Arcadia gives me the tools I need to accomplish all of this, which is why I feel it is the perfect fit."

Hamad graduated from the University of Akron in 2013 with a degree in Political Science, and earned his Master's from Hiram in 2020.
