Women's Volleyball Splits Matches at Stockton Tri-Match

GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team fell to Stockton, 3-1 in its opener of the Stockton Tri-Match on Saturday. 

Michelle Frank and Katie Paoli led the Knights attack with 15 and 14 kills each. Frank added 10 digs for a double-double. Estefania Martinez-Sola also recorded a double-double with 43 assists and 15 digs.  

STOCKTON 3, ARCADIA 1 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

Set 1: Stockton 27, Arcadia 25: Arcadia maintained a multi-point lead through the opening stages of the set, and grew its lead to 14-9, leading to a Stockton timeout. With the Knights leading 18-13, the Ospreys went on a 7-3 run, cutting the Arcadia lead to 21-20. The Knights led 24-21, but Stockton win six of the final seven points of the set to take the opening frame.  

Set 2: Arcadia 25, Stockton 20: The teams shared the opening points until Arcadia won four straight, giving it a 7-4 lead, forcing Stockton to call a timeout. The Knights maintained a lead through the middle stages of the set. Stockton took three consecutive points to cut the Arcadia lead to 19-18, but Arcadia took six of the final nine points to win the set 25-21 and even the match at one.  

Set 3: Stockton 25, Arcadia 14: Stockton jumped out to an early 5-2 lead, but the Knights took three consecutive points to tie the score at five. The Knights would continue their strong play as they went on a 4-0 run to take a 9-6 lead, forcing Stockton to call a timeout. The Ospreys then won three consecutive points to tie the score at nine. They then won six of the next seven points, giving them a 13-10 lead, forcing Arcadia to take a timeout. Stockton continued its momentum in the set coming out of the timeout to take a 2-1 lead in the match.  

Set 4: Stockton 25, Arcadia 23: The teams traded points up until the set was tied at nine. The Ospreys then won five consecutive points, giving them a 14-9 advantage. Stockton maintained its lead through the middle portion of the set. The Knights battled back through a 7-0 run to tie the set at 23, but Stockton would take the final two points of the set to win the match.

GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team beat Drew, 3-2 in its second match of the Stockton Tri-Match on Saturday. 

Estefania Martinez-Sola tallied 37 assissts in thie match which included her 1000th career assist. Nicole Dallara lead the team with 17 kills.

ARCADIA 3, DREW 2 
HOW IT HAPPENED 


Set 1: Arcadia 25, Drew 17: The set started off with a kill from Frank. The points went back and forth until Drew took its largest lead of the set 7-4. The Knights then went on a 7 point run including an Ace by Dallara to take the lead that they would hold for the rest of the match,

Set 2: Arcadia 25, Drew 23: Drew jumped off to an early 6-3 lead. The Knights trailed for majority of the set until they went on a 5 point run to tie it at 17. The next few points were shared until Arcadia tallied the last three points to take the second set. 

Set 3: Drew 25, Arcadia 17: The Knights took an early 3-0 lead in set three. However, The Rangers went on a 6 point run to take the lead 8-4. Arcadia trailed for the remainder of the set, giving Drew their first win of the match. 

Set 4: Drew 25, Arcadia 15:  The Rangers jumped off to an early 7-3 lead. Arcadia's longest run was for three points including kills from Paoli and Dallara. However, Drew took the last six points to tie up the match at two sets each. 

Set 5: Arcadia 19, Drew 17: Drew quickly tallied a 8-4 lead. Then the Knights won 11 of the next 18 points to take the lead at 15-14. The next few points went back and forth before Arcadia took the last three points to win the set and match overall.
