HAVERFORD, Pa. - Two late goals proved to be the difference as the Arcadia University women's soccer team fell by a 4-3 final to Washington and Lee University at Haverford College on Sunday afternoon.
Abby Stephens,
Taylor Gubler, and
Emily Di Silverio got the Knights' tallies while
Abby Fuchs and
Jordan Polen combined to make nine saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stephens got Arcadia on the board in the 26th minute when she scored off a direct kick that deflected in off of the goalkeeper.
- Gubler doubled the advantage in the 27th minute with an assist from
Caroline Weirich, knocking one home from 20 yards out off the far post.
- The Generals cut the lead to 2-1 in the 41st minute, which is where it stood heading into halftime.
-Di Silverio put the Knights ahead 3-1 in the 71st minute knocking it in off of a free ball.
- Washington and Lee scored in the 80th and 88th minute to secure the contest.
