Women's Basketball Never Trails in Battle of 309

GLENSIDE - Hanna Rhoades finished with a game-high 23 points as the Arcadia University women's basketball team never trailed in an 82-56 victory in the 2023 Battle of 309 over Gwynedd Mercy University inside Alumni Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

FOR THE RECORD
Arcadia remained perfect at 2-0 while Gwynedd Mercy suffered its first loss to fall to 3-1 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights came out on fire, leading 26-9 at the end of the first quarter.

-Arcadia pushed its lead to 31 at 42-11, leading at halftime 48-12.

-Gwynedd Mercy cut the lead to 21 with a 15-0 run to start the third quarter, but the Knights 64-39 entering the final quarter.

-Arcadia cruised to the victory to secure the Battle of 309 championship.

-The Knights defense was stifling, holding the Griffins to 28 percent (18-65) from the field and 19 percent (5-27) from three.

NOTES
-Rhoades finished with seven made three-pointers, one of the single-game record.

-The Knights have won their two games this season by an average of 31 points.

-Arcadia is out-rebounding its opponents by 19 per-game.
