GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team won the final two sets of its match with New Jersey City University (NJCU) to take its weekend finale in five sets.
 
The Knights have now won five consecutive matches and improved their record to 7-5.
 
Owen Heft and Danny Gonzalez both recorded new career highs in kills with 26 each. They both each recorded a double-double as well as Heft led the Knights defense with 13 digs and Gonzalez chipped in with 11. Dylan Zimmerman also had a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs.
 
Vaughn McConnell set two new career highs in the Knights' victory as he dished out 62 assists and had seven total blocks.
 
ARCADIA 3, NJCU 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1: NJCU 25, Arcadia 18
NJCU held an early 10-6 lead, forcing an Arcadia timeout. The Knights battled back to get the set within a point at 12-11, but NJCU built their lead back up to four. The Gothic Knights continued to build their lead, taking a 22-17 advantage, forcing a second Arcadia timeout. NJCU closed out the set take a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 2: Arcadia 25, NJCU 19
Arcadia took four consecutive points, giving them a 5-2 lead, but NJCU took the next three points to tie the frame at five. NJCU held an 9-7 lead, but the Knights took four consecutive points to take an 11-9 lead, forcing a Gothic Knights timeout. The Knights continued to build their lead out of the timeout to tie the set at one.
 
Set 3: NJCU 25, Arcadia 22
The Gothic Knights jumped out to a 7-2 lead, but the Knights battled back to tie the set at 12. An NJCU 4-0 run gave the Gothic Knights the lead back at 16-12. NJCU maintained its lead through the rest of the set to take a 2-1 lead in the set.
 
Set 4: Arcadia 30, NJCU 28
The Gothic Knights built up a 12-8 lead, resulting in an Arcadia timeout. The Knights battled back through the middle part of the frame to tie the set at 21. The teams traded points until Arcadia took the final two points to tie the set at two and force the fifth and final set.
 
Set 5: Arcadia 15, NJCU 8
The teams traded points until Arcadia took three consecutive points, giving it an 8-6 lead. The Knights extended that run to a 9-0 run, giving them match point at 14-6. The Gothic Knights fought off two set points, but Arcadia took the final point to take the match.
