Softball Drops First Two Contests in Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fl. - The Arcadia University softball team fell in the first two games of its 2023 spring break trip on Sunday, dropping a 4-1 decision to Wheaton before falling 5-4 to University of New England in Florida.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE: WHEATON 4, ARCADIA 1

-Wheaton opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, and led 3-0 after five.

-Allison LaRochelle got the Knights on the board in the top of the sixth when she led off with a home run.

-Wheaton finished the scoring with a run in the bottom of the frame.

-Juliana Presto allowed four runs on eight hits across six innings with four walks and nine strikeouts.

GAME TWO: UNE 5, ARCADIA 4
-New England crossed the plate in the top of the first and added a run in the top of the second.

-In the top of the second, E. Jamanis singled and stole second before Xanthe Jamanis brought her home on a single to get the Knights on the board.

-The Nor'Easters added a run in the third and another in the fourth to lead 4-1.

-Arcadia tied the score with three runs int he bottom of the fourth when Klose singled scoring LaRochellead E. Jamanis and Klose crossed the plate on a New England error.

-The Nor'Easters took the lead for good with a run in the fifth.

-The Knights loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fifth but were unable to break through.

-Amaia Smith pitched all seven innings, allowing five runs on 14 hits with no walks.
