Baseball Ready to Host MAC Freedom Finals vs No. 2 Misericordia

GLENSIDE - The No. 1 seed Arcadia University baseball team is set to defend its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) crown when it hosts No. 2 Misericordia in the finals of the 2023 MAC Freedom Championships, beginning Friday with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. The series is scheduled as a best-of-three, with all games nine innings and a potential doubleheader Saturday if the series is tied at one.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
Arcadia finished the regular season with a 20-3 record in MAC Freedom play to capture its second-consecutive regular season title. The Knights are led at the plate by reigning MAC Freedom Player of the Year Alex Madera, who batted .467 with 71 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 47 runs scored, 46 RBI's, and 16 stolen bases. Including Madera, Arcadia had five batters hit over.300, including Emilio Pallante, Anthony Bruno, Matt Donchez, and Ryan Smolen. Arcadia leads the conference in hitting with a .334 batting average and leads the conference in another six offensive categories.

On the mound, the Knights are led by Carson Denham, who finished the year with a 5-1 record, 2.95 earned run average, and one save. Hunter Curley went 3-0 with a 2.77 ERA while Zach Steiger went 5-1 with a 4.47 ERA. Arcadia had a 5.35 ERA, the fourth-best in the conference. Hunter Sibley ranked third in the MAC Freedom with six saves to go with a 4-2 record.

The Knights swept No. 4 Stevens, last weekend 7-2 and 3-1 to secure their spot in the MAC Freedom Championship series.
