ANNVILLE, Pa. – Arcadia University baseball senior,
Alex Madera was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Player of the Year and the Knights placed seven on the All-MAC Freedom Teams, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Madera was joined on the All-MAC Freedom First Team by
Carson Denham,
Emilio Pallante,
Anthony Bruno and
Hunter Curley as a utility player. Curley was also named to the All-MAC Freedom Second Team as a pitcher and was joined on the team by
Justin Massielo and
Matt Donchez.
Madera was named the conference's player of the year for the second consecutive season and to the First team for the third consecutive year as he leads the conference with 77 hits and four triples. He is second in the conference in batting average (.461), runs scored (47) and RBI's (50).
Denham earns his first career all-conference honor as he led the conference with a 2.54 ERA, seven wins and 71 innings pitched. He pitched two complete games this season, which came against King's and Stevens. Against nationally ranked North Central, he pitched eight innings and struck out 10 batters in a Knights victory.
Pallante gets the first all-conference award of his career as he hit .352 this season, with 56 hits, 40 runs scored and 30 RBI. He also had 11 doubles and stole 13 bases. Pallante had 16 multi-hit games this season.
Bruno earns an all-conference honor in his first season with the Knights as he set a new school record and led the MAC Freedom in RBI with 58. He was also second in the conference in doubles with 14. He had a batting average of .349 and led the Knights in home runs with six.
For the second consecutive season, Curley is on the All-MAC Freedom First Team as a utility player as he hit .286 with 24 hits, 26 runs scored 9 doubles and 13 RBI. He was also named to the All-MAC Freedom Second Team as a pitcher, which is his first conference honor for his work on the mound. Curley pitched to a 2.77 ERA, had a 3-0 record, and struck out 34 batters in 39 innings pitched. He eclipsed seven innings on three separate occasions as he pitched seven against Wilkes and FDU-Florham and eight innings against Rutgers-Camden.
Massielo earned his second all-conference honor as he hit .307 with 50 hits, 36 runs scored and 32 RBI. He was also tied for the team lead in doubles with 14 and added two home runs for the Knights.
Donchez was named to an all-conference team for the first time in his career as he had the second-best batting average of quailed hitters on the team with a .375. He had 45 hits, 41 runs and 28 RBI, with five doubles and two triples for the Knights.
