GLENSIDE, Pa. – Coming off a second consecutive winning season, the Arcadia University men's soccer program looks to return to the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Tournament in 2023.
Head Coach
Joe Clementi '11 returns for his sixth season at the helm of the Knights. In 2023, Clementi is looking for his alma mater to take the season one match at a time.
"Our expectation is to take it game by game, not look ahead to conference play, know that we can be competitive in each match," Clementi said. "Our expectation is to really to be competitive in each and every game that we play."
The Knights welcome seven first year's to the squad for 2023.
Devin Schmitt,
Matthew Cheney,
Johan Savage,
Evan Williams,
Tyler Jankowski,
Matthew Willis, and
Eric Riftin all are set for their first campaign in the scarlet and grey.
"You bring in first-year players to hopefully come in and impact the side and we had our first scrimmage, and they were able to come in and make some contributions on the field, and that's our expectation that these guys are going to push some of the older guys in certain spots because competition is what drives winning," Clementi said.
The Knights return 26 players from a season ago, including All-MAC Freedom Honorable Mention defender,
Cole Gordon.
"These are guys that are all hungry, all really excited to lead the charge and they've been doing a great job in setting the culture for our team," Clementi said.
The Knights, who were selected to finish fourth in the MAC Freedom Preseason Coaches' Poll is set to kick off their season on Friday, Sept. 1 as they travel to Rutgers-Camden. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
