Women's Basketball Looks to Continue Ascent in Hartzell's Third Season

GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University women's basketball team will look to continue its rapid ascent in head coach Jackie Hartzell's third season in 2024-25 after advancing to its first-ever Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Championship game a season ago.

"I think our expectations are the same," Hartzell said of the upcoming season. "Obviously we have an experienced group and we had a lot of success last year so we want to just build on that and keep working hard and just take it game by game."

On the wing, Delaney Bell returns as a Third Team All-Region IV selection by D3hoops.com and First Team All-MAC Freedom a season ago. Retunring with Bell are Mara Weaver, Sophia Rasiul, and Emily Schall. First-year Taylor Koenig will look to carve out time in her inaugural season.

At forward, Kylie Meredith, Quinlyn Fisher and Morgan Bigler return while first-year Elaina Foley wil join the group.

In the backcourt, graduate student Scarlett Glasser-Nehls leads the way after averaging 11.1 points a season ago. Returners joining Glasser-Nehls include Abby Beam, Ally Zolty, Riley O'Hagan, and Hanna Rhoades. Hannah Barry, Ava Gumienny, and Delaney Finn enter with a chance to find playing time in their first season.

Arcadia was picked to finish first in the MAC Freedom Preseason Coaches' Poll and open the season on Saturday when they face Ramapo at the Smith College Tip-Off Tournament starting at 4:00 p.m. The Knights open their home schedule on November 23rd against Kean, with MAC Freedom play starting January 8th against DeSales. The MAC Freedom Tournament will begin February 23rd.
