Conroy's Pitching, Hot Bats Help Baseball Earn First-Ever Win over Top-Ranked Opponent

BALTIMORE, Md. - 15 straight runs and a solid start from Will Conroy lifted the Arcadia University baseball team to a 15-6 victory over Johns Hopkins University, the No. 1 team in the nation, in non-conference play on Sunday. The Knights fell earlier in the day 10-6 in a rematch with No. 3 Baldwin Wallace.

This is believed to be the first time that any Arcadia team has defeated a team ranked No. 1 in the country at the time.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME TWO: ARCADIA 15, NO. 1 JOHNS HOPKINS 6
-The Knights got on the board with two runs in the top of the first when Anthony Bruno and Matthew Sot hit run-scoring singles bringing home Matt Donchez and Tommy Ajjan, respectively.

-Solomon Griffith brought home Bruno with a single to left and Donchez laced a two-run double scoring Griffith and Gabe Diaz to increase the lead to 5-0 in the second.

-The Knights plated three more runs in the fifth with RBI's from Ajjan, Justin Massielo, and Kevin Wheeler.

-Arcadia added four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to finish its scoring.

-Johns Hopkins got on the board with five runs in the seventh and one in the ninth.

-Will Conroy was exceptional in his first start, allowing three runs in 6.2 innings on four hits with nine strikeouts and three walks. 

-Michael McCullagh and Jason Pace each fanned three batters out of the pen.

GAME ONE: NO. 3 BALDWIN WALLACE 10, ARCADIA 6
-Arcadia got on the board in the top of the first when Bruno launched his first home run of the season, scoring Griffith.

-Baldwin Wallace responded with three runs in its half of the first.

-The Yellow Jackets expanded their lead with a two-run homer in the third.

-Griffin Murphy closed the gap in the fourth with a run-scoring ground out bringing home Massielo.

-The Knights tied the score at five in the fifth with two unearned runs.

-Baldwin Wallace plated two runs in the sixth to retake the lead.

-Murphy doubled to the gap in right center scoring Eli Savitt in the eighth.

-The Yellow Jackets finished the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.
