Softball Opens Conference Play against Misericordia

GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University softball team opened Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play on Saturday, falling 9-6 and 4-3 in a doubleheader at Blankley Field.

FOR THE RECORD
-Arcadia fell to 5-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

-Misericordia improved to 11-3 and 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 6, MISERICORDIA 9
-Misericordia jumped out to an 8-0 lead through the top of the sixth.

-Megan Klose got the Knights on the board in the sixth when she singled home Madi Costigan.

-Taylor Sommer cut the deficit to 8-2 with a bases loaded walk scoring Klose.

-Grace Caldwell began the scoring in the bottom of the seventh when she scored on a double-steal attempt.

-Nathalia DiIanni doubled to right later in the inning scoring Klose.

-Allie LaRochelle singled to right scoring DiIanni.

-Alexa Kozarski finished the scoring when she stole home.

GAME TWO: ARCADIA 3, MISERICORDIA 4
-The Cougars jumped ahead with two runs in the fourth.

-Grace Caldwell got Arcadia on the board in the fifth with an infield single scoring Klose.

-Misericordia took a 4-1 lead with two runs in the top of the seventh.

-The Knights scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and had the winning run on base but were unable to knot the score.
