Men's Volleyball Sweeps Saint Elizabeth, Falls to No. 10 Juniata in Hard-Fought Match


GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team split its tri-match on Saturday, sweeping Saint Elizabeth before falling to No. 10 Juniata, 3-1, in a hard-fought match.
 
The Knights are now 9-6 on the year after Saturday's results.
 
In the match against Saint Elizabeth, Trevor Johnson led the Knights attack with 10 kills. Riley Kodidek dished out 36 assists and Cameron Birch had a season-high 15 digs.
 
In the Knights' match with nationally ranked Juniata, Andrew Ahn had a team-high 17 kills. Terrell Turner had six kills and a match-high .750 hitting percentage. Evan Rothmann had a career-high seven blocks for Arcadia against the Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1: Arcadia 25, Saint Elizabeth 14:
The Knights won the first five points of the match and extended its lead to 10-3. Arcadia went on multiple multi-point runs through the rest of the set as it cruised to an opening frame victory.
 
Set 2: Arcadia 25, Saint Elizabeth 21:
Saint Elizabeth held an early 10-8 lead, but the Knights took the next three points to grab an 11-10 lead. The Eagles regained the lead at 19-17, but Arcadia closed on an 8-2 run to come back and take the second set.
 
Set 3: Arcadia 25, Saint Elizabeth 14:
Arcadia used the momentum from the second set and turned it over to the third as it won the opening eight points of the third frame. The Knights did not take the foot off the gas through the rest of the set as it closed out the frame to win the match in three sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1: Juniata 25, Arcadia 23:
A back and forth start saw the teams tied at nine. Juniata then went on a 5-1 run, taking a 14-10 lead. After the Knights fought back to get within one point at 15-14, Juniata took the next three points to get some cushion in the frame. The Knights battled through the rest of the set, fighting off two set points, but the Eagles took the final point of the frame to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set 2: Arcadia 25, Juniata 23:
With the set tied at 13, Juniata went on a 4-2 run, grabbing a 17-15 advantage. The Knights then tied the match at 17 and took three of the next four points following that, giving them a 20-18 lead. The Knights held the lead the rest of the way as it knotted the match at one set apiece.
 
Set 3: Juniata 25, Arcadia 22:
Juniata tied the set at 10, and then won four of the next five points to take a 14-11 lead. Arcadia would cut the Juniata lead to one multiple times but could not get over the hump in the set as the Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the match.
 
Set 4: Juniata 25, Arcadia 23:
The Knights won the first three points, but Juniata went on a 4-0 run to take a 7-5 lead. The teams would go back and forth through the rest of the set, but the Knights eventually tied the frame at 22. However, the Eagles closed on a 3-1 run to take the set and the match.
