Women's Swimming Drops Meet to Messiah

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's swim team dropped a MAC conference meet to Messiah University on Saturday afternoon in its home opener. The Knights (0-4, 0-4 MAC) fell 166–96. Ava Despeaux, Gabby Schultz, and Juliane Heller each earned individual victories to lead the way for Arcadia.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ava Despeaux picked up two first-place finishes for the Knights, winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.58 and the 50-yard butterfly in 28.57. Despeaux also added a runner-up finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:27.00.
• Gabby Schultz earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:04.98 and took second in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 31.03.
• Juliane Heller claimed victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall at 1:13.74. She also secured a second-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke at 33.36.
• Audrey Haydu placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.73 and added another third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (57.43).
• In the 1000-yard freestyle, Rylie Pellegrino took third with a time of 12:26.42. She also finished fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke (36.40).
• Maddie Farrelly finished just behind Pellegrino in the 1000-yard freestyle, touching fourth in 12:35.08.
• Kylie Perry placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:16.08 and earned a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 6:03.26.
• Kayleigh Kennedy recorded a time of 33.50 in the 50-yard backstroke and finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:10.92).
• Maggie Dent swam the 200-yard freestyle in 2:21.38 and finished the 100-yard backstroke in 1:15.02.
• Lily Stauffer recorded a 32.09 in the 50-yard backstroke and led off the 400-yard medley relay, which finished in 4:51.78.
• Sophia Randle finished the 50-yard freestyle in 28.17 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.46.
• Brooke Boyd took third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.73) and second in the 50-yard butterfly (28.96).
• Kiera Krebs placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.69), fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.29), and fifth in the 50-yard butterfly (31.20).
• Sam Ehrhart finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.65) and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.38).
