Zoppo Collects Her First Shutout as Women's Ice Hockey Wins Big

FREDERICK, Md. – Arcadia University women's ice hockey team defeated Hood College in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play on Saturday evening 5-0 as first year, Ava Zoppo, collected her first career shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Nearing the nine minute mark in the first period, Ava Glab collected her first collegiate goal off assists from Kianna Saillant and Phoebe Roberts to make it 1-0.
- Less than a minute later, Haylee Kos doubled the Knights lead and scored her first goal of the season.
- The Blazers fired frequent shots, but Ava Zoppo stood strong in net.
- Arcadia opened the second period defending two early penalties, killing off back-to-back Hood power plays with strong pressure and key saves.
- Six minutes into the period Carys Jelley found the back of the net for the Knights coming from a Maeve Hourihan and Grace Matthews assist.
- Chloe Makinson converted on a power play advantage, extending Arcadia's lead to 4-0. 
- With three minutes remaining in the second period, Makinson scored her second goal of the night off of another power play advantage.
- The Blazers pushed late in the third period, where the fired multiple shots and drew a late power play, but Zoppo stayed perfect to secure the clean sheet.
