Diane Decker Named Head Women's Basketball Coach

GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Diane Decker as the next Head Women's Basketball Coach. Decker will begin her duties on May 19th.

Decker joins Arcadia after a successful three-year tenure at Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) counterpart Lebanon Valley College. In the 2024-25 season, she led LVC to a 19-7 record and the top seed in the conference tournament, earning MAC Freedom Co-Coach of the Year honors. During her time at Lebanon Valley, Decker coached multiple all-conference players, including a Defensive Player of the Year and a Rookie of the Year, while her teams also achieved success in the classroom.

"I would like to thank each of the committee members for their time and consideration throughout the hiring process," Decker said. "The dedication to finding the best candidate for this role is greatly appreciated."

Before Lebanon Valley, Decker was the head coach at East Stroudsburg University from 2015 to 2019. She was named PSAC Coach of the Year in 2015-16 and led the Warriors to their best season in a decade, highlighted by three All-PSAC First Team selections. Her earlier career included a successful seven-year stint as an assistant coach at Bloomsburg University, where she helped the Huskies to five consecutive PSAC East titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances.

"We are pleased to welcome Coach Decker into the Arcadia Athletics community," Director of Athletics Brian Granata said. "Diane is a proven winner, and we have witnessed that firsthand during her time at LVC. She is well-positioned to build off the success that our team has had in recent years, and we are confident in her ability to lead our program in the years to come as we strive to compete for a conference championship."

Decker was also an accomplished high school coach at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pa., compiling an 82-15 record over three seasons.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the women's basketball program at Arcadia University," Decker explained. "I am deeply honored and humbled by the decision to select me as the new head coach, and I am extremely excited about taking over a great team."

Decker graduated from Villanova University in 1989 with a degree in Liberal Arts, where she was a four-year member of the women's basketball team. While with the Wildcats, Decker was named Second Team All-Big East while also helping lead the team to two Big East Championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances. Decker has been inducted into the Marian Catholic Hall of Fame, Schuylkill County Hall of Fame, PIAA District IX Hall of Fame, and the VIA Lehigh Valley Hall of Fame.
