MEN'S BASKETBALL
Wednesday 1/21 vs DeSales - 6:00 p.m.
The men's basketball team has selected principle three: Nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice, not people. Nonviolence recognizes that evildoers are also victims and are not evil people. The nonviolent resister seeks to defeat evil, not people.
The team explained their selection: "We selected this principle because it demonstrates how by changing an unjust system and actions rather than attacking or humiliating an individual and their rights we can be better and strive for a greater community. It highlights that people who commit injustful acts are often shaped by harmful societal conditions that are placed upon them or that they were born in, and that it can also be transformed and renewed, not destroyed. The end goal of nonviolent resistance is for moral change and reconciliation which defeats the injustice while preserving human dignity on all sides."
WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY
Friday 1/23 vs King's - 6:00 p.m.
The women's ice hockey team has selected principle three: Nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice, not people. Nonviolence recognizes that evildoers are also victims and are not evil people. The nonviolent resister seeks to defeat evil, not people.
The team explained their selection: "We chose this principle because it reminds us that accountability and compassion can coexist. In sports and in society, it's important to challenge unfair systems and actions without dehumanizing others, because real progress comes from understanding, not hatred. This principle is especially important today as our society becomes more divided, it encourages us to stand up for what's right while still respecting the humanity of everyone involved. As a team, it reflects how we compete hard, hold each other accountable, and grow together without tearing people down."
