STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Arcadia University women's indoor track and field team opened the new year at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational on Saturday, turning in a strong showing highlighted by Middle Atlantic Conference qualifying performances and multiple program records.
Three Knights earned MAC Championship qualifications, while two school records fell on the day. Sadie Nugent qualified for the MAC Championships in the 200-meter dash while setting a new program record. Grace Curnow qualified in both the mile and the 400-meter dash, Olivia Schott qualified in the long jump, and Seanna Robinson set a new school record in the weight throw.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Track Events
• In the 60-meter hurdles, Marissa Dougher recorded a time of 10.83, with Olivia Schott close behind at 11.08.
• In the 60-meter dash, Nugent posted a time of 8.05. Julia Kronimus finished 19th at 8.50, Paige Agnew placed 22nd at 8.66, and Addison Altoft crossed the line in 33rd at 8.91.
• Grace Curnow earned MAC qualification in the mile with a 10th-place finish and a time of 5:29.08. Tia Leister placed 15th at 5:43.70, Jackie Engler finished 16th at 5:49.55, Taylor Huckzo recorded a time of 6:32.65, and Maggie Mead crossed the line at 7:05.94.
• Curnow followed her mile performance with another MAC-qualifying effort in the 400-meter dash, finishing 16th at 1:04.43. Engler finished 23rd at 1:07.50, Madeline Clauson placed 29th at 1:08.02, and Jhane Owens posted a time of 1:11.93.
• In the 800-meter run, Sarah Agnew led the Knights with a 25th-place finish at 2:49.67, while Gianna Sube followed closely in 26th at 2:49.79.
• Nugent capped off the day in the 200-meter dash with a MAC-qualifying, school-record performance, finishing ninth overall with a time of 26.39. Kronimus followed at 27.99, Paige Agnew finished at 28.98, Schott recorded 29.20, Altoft posted 29.62, and Dougher finished at 30.73.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Field Events
• In the shot put, Donya Baxter led Arcadia with a third-place finish and a throw of 11.81 meters. Robinson placed sixth at 11.12 meters, Faith Perry finished 22nd at 8.95 meters, Amma Osei recorded 8.05 meters, and Karissa Kujawa posted a mark of 7.17 meters.
• Robinson broke the program record in the weight throw with a fifth-place finish and a throw of 13.97 meters. Perry finished 14th at 10.90 meters, while Kujawa placed 19th at 10.33 meters.
• Olivia Schott competed in the long jump, finishing eighth with a best mark of 4.74 meters, and also earned a spot to qualify for MAC.
