GLENSIDE, Pa. - A late penalty kick from Scott Jordan in the 77th minute lifted the Arcadia University men's soccer team to a 1-1 draw against King's College (Pa.) on Wednesday night at Jean Lenox West Field. The Knights move to 4-3-4 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play, while the Monarchs move to 3-4-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- King's struck first just five minutes into the contest after a takeaway in the Arcadia backline led to a scoring opportunity. The Monarchs capitalized on the miscue to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Knights looked to respond throughout the opening half, creating several opportunities but were unable to find the equalizer before halftime.
- Arcadia continued to pressure the King's defense early in the second half. Jordan nearly leveled the contest in the 59th minute, but his attempt was turned aside by the Monarchs' goalkeeper.
- Seconds after Jordan's attempt, Alex Chyzowych fell on the rebound and put together two quick chances, but both shots were denied by the King's goalkeeper as the Knights continued to search for the equalizer.
- Arcadia's pressure finally paid off in the 77th minute when the Knights were awarded a penalty kick following a foul inside the box. Jordan stepped to the spot and calmly tallied his third goal of the season to even the match at 1-1.
- Neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in the final minutes, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
