Makinson’s Two Goals Propel Women's Ice Hockey Past Stevenson

STEVENSON, Md. – The Arcadia University women's ice hockey team capped the regular season with a 4-1 road victory over Stevenson on Friday evening. The Knights improve to 17-6-2 overall and 15-5-1 in conference play heading into postseason action.

Chloe Makinson led the way with two goals, while Ava Glab and Haylee Kos each added a tally. Arcadia controlled the faceoff circle, winning 34 of 61 draws, with Kianna Saillant and Makinson securing 14 wins apiece. The Knights converted one of two power-play opportunities, and the penalty kill successfully denied Stevenson's lone advantage. Gabby Meger earned the start in goal and recorded 27 saves, allowing just one goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Stevenson applied early pressure, forcing Meger into action in the opening minutes to keep the Mustangs off the scoreboard.
• As the first period progressed, Arcadia generated sustained offensive pressure. Charlotte Siksik, Chloe Makinson, Rylie Duffy, Abbi Komrofske, Carys Jelley, and Kylie Beers each created quality scoring opportunities.
• Midway through the period, the Knights capitalized on the power play. Makinson netted her 15th goal of the season off assists from Komrofske and Phoebe Roberts to give Arcadia a 1-0 lead.
• The Knights carried the one-goal advantage into the first intermission.
• Just two minutes into the second period, Ava Glab extended the lead with her 14th goal of the season, finishing passes from Grace Matthews and Maeve Hourihan.
• Stevenson responded less than two minutes later to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, on Arcadia's ensuing possession, Makinson scored her second goal of the night to restore a two-goal cushion at 3-1.
• In the third period, Haylee Kos sealed the victory with an empty-net goal—her ninth of the season—off an assist from Glab, securing the 4-1 win.
