Men's Lacrosse Rallies Late but Falls to Stockton in Overtime Thriller

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team returned to action on Wednesday evening, dropping a hard-fought 11-10 overtime decision to Stockton University at home. The Knights (6-3) trailed 8-4 heading into the fourth quarter before mounting a six-goal comeback to force overtime.

Arcadia had a final opportunity at the end of regulation, but Stockton forced a turnover to send the game into the extra period. The Ospreys capitalized on their first possession in overtime to secure the win.

Alex Greenberg led the Knights offensively with three goals, while Quinn Finnegan and Tristan Johnson each added two. Sean Perkinson, Dylan Garber, and Ryan Clark also found the back of the net.

Stockton held a slight edge in shots, 43-41, and shots on goal, 26-16. Arcadia committed fewer turnovers (21-25) and was efficient on clears, going 32-for-35 while holding the Ospreys to 28-for-32. The Knights also controlled the ground ball battle, 36-32, with Nate Hudgins and Colin Brockman each collecting four. Stockton won the faceoff battle, 14-9, with Brockman leading Arcadia with seven wins. The Knights totaled 11 caused turnovers, including a game-high three from Aidan Higgins.

Hudgins started in goal and made eight saves while allowing five goals in the first half. Joseph Tesler played the second half, recording seven saves and allowing six goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Stockton struck quickly, scoring less than a minute into the game after winning the opening faceoff. The Ospreys followed with two more goals in a six-second span to take an early 3-0 lead.
• After the ensuing faceoff, Alden Cathey caused a turnover and found Alex Greenberg for Arcadia's first goal of the game.
• Late in the first quarter, Greenberg scored again off an assist from Dylan Garber. Moments later, Quinn Finnegan picked up a ground ball off the faceoff and raced downfield to tie the game at 3-3.
• Stockton regained the lead in the second quarter and added another goal late to take a 5-3 advantage into halftime.
• Carrying over a man-up opportunity into the third, Stockton scored early and extended its lead to 8-3 midway through the quarter. Tristan Johnson scored late in the period to cut the deficit to 8-4 heading into the fourth.
• Arcadia opened the fourth with two quick goals. Dylan Garber scored off a feed from Gavin Lenart, and Greenberg completed his hat trick off an assist from Joey Ewald.
• Stockton answered to push the lead back to three, but Perkinson responded for the Knights to keep the momentum alive.
• Trailing 10-7 with under four minutes to play, Arcadia began its late surge. Johnson scored his second of the game, followed by Ryan Clark's first goal of the season after a caused turnover by Higgins to make it 10-9.
• After Brockman won the ensuing faceoff, Finnegan tied the game with 34 seconds remaining off an assist from Greenberg.
• Arcadia won the final faceoff of regulation and had a potential game-winning opportunity, but Stockton forced a turnover. Tesler made a late save to send the game to overtime.
• In overtime, Stockton won the faceoff and scored on its first possession to secure the 11-10 victory.
