Late Comeback Helps Softball Split with FDU-Florham

GLENSIDE - A seven-run sixth innings in game one helped the Arcadia University softball team to a split with FDU-Florham in its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) doubleheader at Blankley Field on Wednesday afternoon, taking game one 7-6 before falling 8-5 in eight innings in the nightcap.

FOR THE RECORD
-Arcadia moved to 8-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

-FDU-Florham stands at 14-3 overall and 4-2 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 7, FDU-FLORHAM 6
-FDU-Florham jumped out to a 4-0 lead with three runs in the third and one in the fifth.

-Sybella DeMaio, Jadelin Chui, Sadie Drozdowski, Kiersten Murray, and Samantha Edwards all drove runs home as part of the seven-run bottom of the sixth.

-The Devils crossed the plate twice but with runners on second and third and two outs Stephanie Binek worked a grounder back to herself to finish the game.

-Dakota Fanelli earned the win in relief, allowing one runs on three hits across three innings with three walks and three punchouts.

GAME TWO: ARCADIA 5, FDU-FLORHAM 8 (F/8)
-FDU-Florham crossed the plate twice in the top of the first.

-The Knights responded immediately in the bottom of the frame as Murray and Binek singled home Passaro and Murray.

-Chui gave Arcadia the lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run single to right scoring Murray and Caity Hinton, followed by a fielder's choice from Fanelli that brought home Binek.

-The Devils tied the score with three runs in the top of the fifth.

-After the game went to extra innings, an inside-the-park three-run home run put FDU-Florham ahead for good.
