Men's Lacrosse Falls to Lebanon Valley, Secures MAC Freedom Playoff Berth

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dropped a MAC Freedom matchup to Lebanon Valley College, 9-7, on Wednesday evening in the penultimate game of the regular season. Despite the setback, the Knights have secured a spot in the upcoming MAC Freedom playoffs.

Arcadia moves to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Sean Perkinson and Tristan Johnson each scored twice, while Alex Greenberg, Kyle Schiller, and Joey Ewald added one goal apiece.

Shots were even at 42-42, though Lebanon Valley held an advantage in shots on goal (27-20). Turnovers were nearly even, with the Flying Dutchmen committing 25 to Arcadia's 24. The Knights were strong in clearing, converting 31-of-32 attempts while holding Lebanon Valley to 28-of-38. Arcadia also held the edge in ground balls (44-33), while faceoffs were split evenly at 10-10. The Knights went 1-for-2 on extra-man opportunities, while Lebanon Valley finished 1-for-4.

Colin Brockman led the Knights with seven ground balls and went 8-for-14 at the faceoff X. Ryan Clark recorded a team-high three caused turnovers. Nate Hudgins made 16 saves in goal, while Joseph Tesler added two saves in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brockman won the opening faceoff, but Lebanon Valley forced a turnover, leading to an early test for Hudgins. Greenberg recorded Arcadia's first shot, but it was saved.
• A penalty early in the first quarter forced a goalie change, and Lebanon Valley capitalized on the extra-man opportunity to take a 1-0 lead.
• After a turnover caused by Dylan Garber, Greenberg collected the ground ball and assisted Perkinson for his 16th goal of the season, tying the game at 1-1.
• Following another Lebanon Valley turnover, Arcadia capitalized out of a timeout as Ewald scored off an assist from Reilly Robichaud to give the Knights a 2-1 lead heading into the second quarter.
• Johnson extended the lead to 3-1 early in the second after converting on a reset opportunity.
• Lebanon Valley responded with two goals to tie the game at 3-3, but Schiller answered by scoring off a faceoff win by Brockman to give Arcadia a 4-3 lead at halftime.
• Perkinson opened the second half scoring after a turnover forced by Jacob Mann, pushing the Knights ahead 5-3.
• The Flying Dutchmen responded with three unanswered goals to close the third quarter and take a 6-5 lead.
• Lebanon Valley added another goal early in the fourth before Johnson scored on the man advantage to cut the deficit to 7-6.
• After a save by Hudgins, Lebanon Valley capitalized on a rebound opportunity to extend the lead to 8-6.
• Greenberg brought Arcadia back within one, scoring off an assist from Perkinson with six minutes remaining to make it 8-7.
• Lebanon Valley added a late goal after a timeout to secure the 9-7 victory.
