Men's Lacrosse Fall to Stevens in MAC Freedom Championship

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The No. 3 seeded Arcadia University men's lacrosse team fell to top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology, 20-10, in the MAC Freedom Championship game on Saturday afternoon. The Knights conclude their season at 12-7 overall (5-2 MAC Freedom).

Tristan Johnson led the offense with a hat trick, while Sean Perkinson and Dylan Garber each added two goals. Alex Greenberg, TJ Shillingford, and Quinn Finnegan also found the back of the net for Arcadia.

Stevens held advantages in shots (64-28) and shots on goal (46-26), while also winning the ground ball battle, 51-38. The Ducks were efficient in transition, converting 27-of-29 clears, while limiting Arcadia to 23-of-30. Stevens forced 31 turnovers and narrowly edged the Knights at the faceoff X, 18-16.

Colin Brockman led Arcadia with eight ground balls and went 10-of-21 on faceoffs, while Darian Good finished 6-of-13 with three ground balls. Aidan Higgins, Gavin Lenart, Alden Cathey, Dylan Garber, and Adrien Widdows each recorded a caused turnover.

Nate Hudgins made 25 saves in goal for the Knights, while Joseph Tesler added one save in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brockman won the opening faceoff, but Stevens forced an early turnover. Hudgins responded with four saves to keep the game scoreless in the opening minutes.
• Stevens broke through midway through the first quarter and quickly added two more goals, extending the lead to 3-0.
• The Ducks continued their momentum, closing the first quarter on a 6-0 run.
• Arcadia answered early in the second quarter, as Garber scored off an assist from Reilly Robichaud to make it 6-1.
• Three minutes later, Greenberg found the net off a feed from Anthony Mangini to cut the deficit to 6-2.
• After another Hudgins save, Johnson scored his first goal of the game, assisted by Alden Cathey.
Quinn Finnegan capitalized on a rebound off a Mangini shot to make it 7-4 with under nine minutes remaining in the half.
• Stevens added one goal before halftime to take an 8-4 lead into the break.
• Arcadia opened the second half with a goal from Shillingford, set up by Greenberg, to trim the margin to 8-5.
• Stevens responded with an 8-0 run to close the third quarter, taking a commanding 16-5 lead.
• In the fourth, Johnson scored his second goal off an assist from Lenart following a Hudgins save.
• Garber added his second goal of the game to make it 18-7.
• Perkinson and Johnson each scored in the final minutes, with Johnson completing his hat trick.
• Perkinson added one final goal off an assist from Mangini, but Stevens secured the 20-10 victory.
