CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team opened MAC Freedom play on the road Friday evening at DeSales. The Knights (8-2, 0-1 MAC Freedom) fell to the Bulldogs in straight sets, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22. Raegan Oursler led the Knights with 10 kills, while Alliy Kulas recorded three aces, Anna Keer led the team with three blocks, Bryana Saenz tallied 16 assists, and Avery Bell posted 17 digs. Arcadia hit .097 for the match, while DeSales hit .225.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE: Arcadia 20 – DeSales 25
· DeSales jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Chana Rothschild put down the first kill for the Knights to get Arcadia on the board. Back-to-back kills from Devon Young tied the set at 3-3.
· Morgan Orsulak and Mia Beckett picked up their first kills before an ace from Alliy Kulas gave the Knights their first lead. Beckett and Oursler each added another kill before the Bulldogs went on a 3-0 run to take an 11-9 lead.
· Another kill from Orsulak tied the set at 11-11, but DeSales pushed its lead to 14-11. A 3-0 run from the Knights, featuring two kills from Beckett and another ace from Kulas, pulled Arcadia within one at 16-15.
· A kill from Anna Keer and two more from Oursler tied the set at 18-18, but DeSales closed the frame on a 7-2 run to take the first set, 25-20.
SET TWO: Arcadia 23 – DeSales 25
· After an early point from DeSales, the Knights went on a 3-0 run to take their first lead, behind kills from Orsulak and Rothschild. Young's kill later tied the set at 4-4.
· Trailing 7-6, the Bulldogs went on a 6-1 run to take a 13-7 lead. Kills from Rothschild and Oursler helped the Knights respond, while a 3-0 run capped by an ace from Rothschild and a block from Keer and Young cut the deficit to 17-13.
· A kill from Young, a kill from Oursler, another ace from Kulas, and a block from Oursler and Keer cut further into the deficit, making it 22-19.
· After two kills from Beckett and an ace from Saenz, the Bulldogs led 24-23. DeSales then secured the final point to take the second set, 25-23.
SET THREE: Arcadia 22 – DeSales 25
· Rothschild's kill tied the set at 2-2 before a kill from Keer made it 3-3. The Knights then went on a 4-0 run featuring two kills from Oursler and one from Bell. DeSales quickly answered with a 4-0 run of its own.
· Kills from Rothschild, Young, and Orsulak, along with a block from Beckett and Keer, tied the set at 15-15. Back-to-back kills from Oursler and Rothschild, followed by an ace from Bell, gave the Knights a 19-17 lead.
· DeSales answered with a 2-0 run to tie the set before the Knights responded with a 2-0 run of their own, highlighted by another kill from Oursler.
· The Bulldogs then went on a 3-0 run before Oursler's final kill tied the set at 22-22. DeSales closed the set on a 3-0 run to take the third set, 25-22, and secure the straight-set victory.
