GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team won its fourth game in the last five, earning a 3-2 victory over Immaculata University at home Saturday afternoon. The Knights (4-5) received first-quarter goals from Kyra Moyer and Lilli Clark before Mackenzie Clark extended the lead to 3-0 early in the second half. Immaculata added two fourth-quarter goals to make things interesting, but the Knights held on to secure the 3-2 victory on Senior Day.
Arcadia dominated the shot total, 19-9, and held a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal. The Knights also earned 11 penalty corners while limiting the Mighty Macs to four. Anna Dobolovosky started in goal and made six saves to earn her fourth win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· Arcadia had the first scoring opportunity just over four minutes into the game when the Knights were awarded a penalty corner. Ava O'Connor inserted the ball, and Kyra Moyer's initial shot was blocked before the junior found the back of the cage to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
· Looking to add to the lead, Mackenzie Clark had a strong scoring opportunity, but her shot was saved.
· Just before the end of the first quarter, Clark dribbled the ball down the right side of the field and sent a cross into the center of the circle, where Lilli Clark finished the play to double the Knights' lead to 2-0.
· Dobolovosky was not tested until midway through the second quarter, when she kicked away the only shot she faced in the first half as the Knights carried their 2-0 lead into halftime.
· Early in the second half, the Knights earned four consecutive penalty corners, generating shots from Mackenzie Clark, Lane DerOhannessian and Elaina Washburn. After Arcadia forced a turnover, Ava O'Connor's shot was blocked, but Mackenzie Clark was there to clean up the rebound and make it 3-0.
· The Mighty Macs managed one penalty corner in the third quarter and recorded just one shot, which did not reach the cage.
· In the fourth quarter, Dobolovosky made an initial save, but the rebound fell to a Mighty Mac attacker, who beat the senior goalkeeper to cut the deficit to 3-1.
· DerOhannessian recorded the Knights' only shot of the fourth quarter, but it was blocked. Immaculata continued to apply pressure and scored again with just over three minutes remaining to make it a 3-2 game.
· The Knights regrouped and held on through the final minutes to secure the 3-2 Senior Day victory.
