GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team hosted day one of the Arcadia Quad Meet on Friday, welcoming Muhlenberg College, Catholic University and Bard College to Glenside. In the nightcap, the Knights (2-0) swept Muhlenberg, 3-0, by set scores of 25-22, 29-27 and 26-24. As a team, Arcadia hit .274 with 48 kills. Reagan Oursler led the Knights with 11 kills, while Avery Bell recorded five aces, Anna Keer and Mia Beckett each totaled two blocks, Bryana Saenz finished with 21 assists and Bell added 14 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE: Arcadia 25, Muhlenberg 22
- Morgan Orsulak recorded the first kill for the Knights as the teams traded points early in the match. Arcadia then used a 4-0 run, sparked by kills from Keer and Devon Young and a block assist from Orsulak and Keer.
- Muhlenberg responded, turning a 6-4 deficit into a 10-6 lead. The teams continued to trade points before a 3-0 run by the Mules put the visitors ahead, 18-14. Following several Muhlenberg miscues, the Knights rallied to retake a 21-20 lead.
- Orsulak put the Knights ahead 22-21, and after Muhlenberg tied the set at 22-22, a kill from Young, a Mules error and a final kill from Orsulak gave Arcadia the 25-22 victory and a 1-0 lead.
SET TWO: Arcadia 29, Muhlenberg 27
- Similar to the opening set, the teams traded points early, with the Knights getting kills from Oursler and Young.
- Muhlenberg used a 4-1 run to retake the lead, but the Knights responded with kills from Young, Keer, Oursler and back-to-back aces from Bell to take a 10-9 advantage.
- Chana Rothschild and Orsulak fueled the offense in the middle of the set before a block assist from Beckett and Keer gave the Knights a 17-16 lead.
- Kills from Rothschild, Oursler, Orsulak and Young gave Arcadia set point at 24-23. The Mules responded with a 2-0 run, but the Knights answered with two straight points before Muhlenberg rattled off back-to-back points to take a 27-26 lead.
- The Knights took advantage of a service error from the visitors before a kill from Beckett and an ace from Bell sealed the 29-27 set victory and gave Arcadia a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET THREE: Arcadia 26, Muhlenberg 24
- Despite taking an early 1-0 lead, Muhlenberg used a 6-2 run to jump ahead 6-2 before eventually extending its advantage to 12-4.
- Back-to-back kills from Beckett sparked the Knights' comeback. Keer added a kill, while Bell followed with two more aces. Kills from Rothschild and Orsulak helped fuel a 6-1 run that allowed Arcadia to retake the lead, 19-17.
- Muhlenberg reached 20 points first and fought back to regain a 24-22 advantage.
- The Knights closed out the set and the match with four consecutive kills to complete the 3-0 sweep and improve to 2-0 on the season.
