GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team continued its winning ways to start the season, going 2-0 on day two of the Arcadia Quad Tournament at home Saturday. In their first match of the day, the Knights defeated Bard College, 3-1, by set scores of 25-9, 20-25, 25-18 and 25-10. In the nightcap against Catholic University, the Knights, now 4-0 on the season, earned another 3-1 victory over the Cardinals by scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-21.
HOW IT HAPPENED
MATCH ONE: Arcadia 3, Bard 1
SET ONE: Arcadia 25, Bard 9
- Bard quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Knights answered with a 13-0 run, getting kills from Chana Rothschild and Devon Young, a block assist from Morgan Orsulak and Rothschild, and five aces from Raegan Oursler.
- Katie Grimm's kill started a 3-0 run before Anna Keer and Orsulak teamed up for a block, with Keer capping the run with a kill of her own as the Knights extended their lead to 16-4.
- Keer picked up two more kills, while Kaitlyn Small added an ace as the Knights' lead ballooned to 19-6.
- Kills from Oursler and Rothschild, along with aces from Avery Bell, Bryana Saenz and Oursler, secured the 25-9 set victory.
SET TWO: Bard 25, Arcadia 20
- Orsulak and Oursler got the set started for the Knights with two quick points, but the Raptors responded with a 4-0 run.
- The Knights answered with a 4-0 run of their own, featuring two aces from Kam Wertz and kills from Grimm and Oursler.
- Despite kills from Mia Beckett and a block from Beckett and Wertz, Bard jumped out to a 15-11 lead.
- The Knights tried to battle back, but the Raptors held on for the 25-20 victory to even the match at 1-1.
SET THREE: Arcadia 25, Bard 18
- After Bard jumped out to a 2-0 lead, the Knights answered with a 7-0 run featuring blocks from Young and Rothschild and Orsulak and Rothschild.
- Young and Rothschild teamed up for another block assist to extend the lead to 8-3, while kills from Beckett and Young pushed the advantage to 12-5.
- The Knights continued applying offensive pressure and pulled ahead in the match, two sets to one, after taking the third set, 25-18.
SET FOUR: Arcadia 25, Bard 10
- Once again, the Raptors jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Knights answered with a 9-1 run.
- Kills from Beckett and Young capped a 3-0 run to give the Knights a 12-5 advantage.
- Arcadia continued to control the set with a series of 2-0 runs before Oursler recorded the final kill to complete the 25-10 victory. The Knights finished the set with 16 kills while hitting .667.

SET ONE: Arcadia 25, Catholic 12
- Kills from Rothschild and Young, as well as an ace from Oursler, put the Knights ahead 3-0 early.
- Two more kills from Young and a Catholic error tied the set at 7-7. The Knights then went on an 11-0 run featuring five kills from Oursler, one from Rothschild, one from Beckett and a block from Beckett and Rothschild.
- Kills from Beckett, Oursler, Rothschild and Orsulak, along with an ace from Saenz, gave the Knights a 25-12 set victory and a 1-0 lead in the match.
SET TWO: Catholic 25, Arcadia 23
- The second set was evenly contested as the teams traded points back and forth throughout.
- Young and Keer picked up early kills for the Knights, while kills from Rothschild and Oursler brought Arcadia back to within one point at 11-10.
- A block from Keer and Orsulak, along with three kills from Beckett, made it 17-15 in favor of Catholic. The Cardinals were the first to reach 20 points, but the Knights responded with a 5-0 run featuring kills from Beckett and Oursler and a block from Rothschild and Oursler.
- Despite a 3-0 run that gave the Knights a 23-22 lead, the Cardinals closed the set with three straight points to even the match at 1-1.
SET THREE: Arcadia 25, Catholic 22
- The Knights jumped out to an early lead, but Catholic quickly responded to take the advantage. Back-to-back kills from Beckett sparked a 5-1 run that put the Knights back in front.
- Saenz's kill started a 4-0 run that increased the Knights' lead to 14-8.
- Rothschild's kill and Small's ace made it an 18-11 set in favor of Arcadia.
- Catholic clawed its way back to make it 23-21, but final kills from Young and Keer sealed the set for the Knights, 25-22.
SET FOUR: Arcadia 25, Catholic 21
- Saenz started the set with an ace, while two kills from Orsulak gave the Knights an early 3-2 lead.
- An ace from Alliy Kulas, a kill from Beckett and a block assist from Beckett and Keer made it 9-4 in favor of Arcadia.
- Another ace from Saenz capped a 3-0 run to make it 13-7. After kills from Keer and Beckett, Catholic went on a 4-0 run to pull within two at 17-15.
- The teams traded points with Arcadia holding a 21-20 lead, but two kills from Rothschild and a final kill from Young secured the 25-21 set victory and the 3-1 match win.
