Athletics - April 30, 2013
On Tuesday, April 30th, the Arcadia University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the "Mile for the Marathon" run/walk.  All the money raised went towards The One Fund Boston Inc., a fund set-up to assist those who were affected by the Boston Marathon Bombings.


Men's Soccer - April 6-7, 2013
This past weekend the Arcadia University Men's Soccer team made the trip down Church Road into Cheltenham to volunteer their time and efforts cleaning up High School Park. High School Park is an 11-acre natural oasis in the heart of Elkins Park, PA.

Women's Basketball - April 7, 2013
After making and selling baked goods for almost 2 weeks,  the Arcadia University Women's Basketball team finally got to put all the money raised from the bake sale towards the "Run for the Playground" 5K in Levittown.  The money went towards new playground equipment for an elementary school.

Baseball - April 6, 2013
Baseball had a cancer awareness day where the team wore special uniforms honoring someone they know who has been affected by cancer. Between games the players game the jersey to the person they were honoring. Also there was silent auction. All proceeds were donated to the Abramson Cancer Center at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Athletics - March 23, 2013
On Saturday, March 23rd, the Arcadia University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Department of Intramurals and Recreation joined forces to host the AU blacklight dance, the second charity dance this year.  The ticket proceeds helped benefit the national chapter of Special Olympics and the Rotary Club of Montgomery County.

Athletics - March 23, 2013
More than 60 Montgomery County Rotary Special Athletes (MCRSA) joined representatives of Arcadia Special Athletes Association (ASAA) for a day of soccer, volleyball, swimming and relay races on Saturday, March 23 for the annual Sportsfest. The event continues to build upon the strong relationship the University forged with MCRSA more than 25 years ago.

SAAC - February 14, 2013
Every February 14th, across the United States and in other places around the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones.  On this Valentine’s Day the Arcadia University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members were the Cupids of the Phoebe Wyncote nursing home. Arcadia SAAC members took time out of their afternoon to personally go room to room and hand carnations to the residents of the home.

Women's Basketball - February 6, 2013
On Wednesday, February 6th, the Arcadia University Women's Basketball team hosted their 2nd annual “Day for David” against Commonwealth conference opponent Alvernia University.  All funds raised that night were given to the St. Baldrick’s Pediatric Cancer Foundation in honor of a very brave 10 year old boy, David Heard, who lost his battle with Neuroblastoma on February 10th, 2011.

Multiple Sports - January 21, 2013
On Martin Luther King Day and the National Day of Service, a total of 174 athletes from the baseball, softball, men's & women's Lacrosse, field hockey, men's & women's tennis, men's & women's soccer and men's basketball teams participated in Stop Hunger Now on campus. The teams donated their time and a total of $3,214, which equates to 12,856 meals.

Stop Hunger Now was established in 1998 and is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. Stop Hunger Now's meal packaging program is a volunteer-based effort through which participants package high protein, dehydrated meals for use in crisis areas. Stop Hunger Now's meal packaging program predominantly provides meals to support school feeding programs in schools and orphanages around the world.

Women's Basketball
The team volunteered their Sunday afternoon to help run the DePaul USA homeless Shelter 3 on 3 basketball tournament that took place at LaSalle University on September 30, 2012.  DePaul USA is a transitional housing organization; helping individuals stabilize their lives after being homeless.  

The team was happy to welcome members of Glenside to the Kuch Center as they hosted a GYAC (Glenside Youth Athletic Club) 5/6th grade girls basketball game on January 12, 2013.

The team hosted a "Water Girl Program" for the entire 2012-2013 season - over 15 girls grades 3-8 had the opportunity to come to be involved with the teams pre-game & post-game as well as be right in the action by sitting on the bench during the home games.
 
Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse - November
Holiday Mail for Heroes is a Red Cross sponsored program, that collects holiday cards to be sent to veterans, military families, and active duty service members at hospitals. The Red Cross slogan for this program is "Supporting Our Military by Giving Something that Means Something."  This was the first year the two teams have participated in this community service initiative. 

The teams sold t-shirts over a one week span to raise $1000 for Sandy victims.

Aid for Friends was chosen by the teams, not only because of the group's local ties, but because of their mission. The not-for-profit organization serves needy, isolated shut-ins, primarily the frail elderly, in the five county greater Philadelphia Region with free, daily home-cooked meals, delivered weekly by volunteer visitors, and also provides shut-ins with free outreach services. The goal is to help homebound "client/friends" maintain their cherished independence by supporting their determination to remain in their own homes for as long as possible and to enhance their quality of life.

Equestrian
They collected cans for Philabundance at the two shows that they hosted on September 30th and November 10th.
The team volunteers at Red Wing Farm throughout the semester, helping to clean and organize barns.
Towards the end of the semester they are heading to Philadelphia to wrap and pack toys that will be given to under privileged children for the holidays.

Ongoing - Holiday Mail for Heroes
The men's and women's swim teams are currently participating in the Red Cross's "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program by writing and collecting holiday cards to remember and support our nations heroes and vets over the upcoming holiday season.

November 12, 2012 - Empty Bowl Event
The men's and women's swim team participated in the Empty Bowl Food Drive at Arcadia by collecting and donating canned goods.

November 10, 2012 - Empty Bowl Fundraiser
The men's lacrosse team helped the community service office set up for Empty Bowl that was held on campus. The team met on Saturday to move hundreds of pottery bowls, donated by local artists, from Heinz  Hall to the Castle  Over the course of four hours, the team moved and washed all the bowls to be used for Monday's charity event. In years past, the lacrosse club had performed this duty and the new varsity team, under the direction of seniors Max Kulp and Chris Baines, continued with the tradition.

 The Alumni Gymnasium inside the Kuch Center was rocking with loud dance music, strobe lights and 450 Arcadia University students dressed in their favorite Halloween costume dancing the night away. The Arcadia University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Department of Intramurals and Recreation joined forces to host the first ever “Fright Knight” Halloween Dance to raise money towards the Make-A-Wish Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley chapter.

October 14, 2012 - Baseball Clinic
Baseball had approximately 25 campers from the ages of 7-14 from the Enon, Cheltenham, and Glenside Communities. It was a three-hour clinic, where the coaching staff/current members of the team took the participates through the basics of fielding, throwing, hitting, and pitching and wrapped it up with a contests in each category.

October 13, 2012 - Women's Soccer Hosts Ardsley-North Hills Soccer Club & AC United Teams
Both teams attended the Home game for Women's Soccer at Haber Green field in the middle of campus.  More than a dozen young players met and participated by walking players out to the center of the field during pre-game festivities and met with the Arcadia team after the game to talk about soccer and make connections with the players.

Hunter Travel Boys players watched and participated in Arcadia Men's Soccer Training.
September 23, 2012 - Men's and Women's Soccer Free Skills Clinic
The men's & women's soccer teams spent Sunday afternoon helping the Hunter Soccer Intramural players learn and have fun playing soccer with the players of each team. The players that participated enjoyed games and skills taught by the Arcadia players 

September 22, 2012 - Men's and Women's Soccer Host Hunter Soccer Club Night
The Arcadia University soccer teams hosted young players from the Hunter Soccer club in Glenside, PA. The Arcadia Women hosted over a dozen on-lookers, many who had attended the training session from earlier in the month.  The young players enjoyed watching and supporting the Arcadia Soccer team.  The Men's team also hosted young Hunter players as they attempted to play Kings but weather cut the game short early on.

September 13, 2012 - Women's Soccer
Hunter Travel Girls players watched and participated in Arcadia Women's Soccer Training.That evening, Arcadia’s women’s soccer team welcomed more than 50 girls from Glenside’s Hunter Soccer Club to a training session, providing a special behind-the-scenes look at NCAA soccer. The Knights put on a high-energy display of the skill, creativity and determination it takes to compete in the ultra-competitive MAC Commonwealth Conference. After observing a training segment, the Hunter players received lessons from Arcadia players and coaches, and then participated in exciting drills their coaches can use during their own training.

August 28, 2012 - Phillies Red Goes Green Read More
Taking a break from their preseason conditioning activities, the Arcadia University Field Hockey team traded in their hockey sticks for recycling bags when they traveled to Citizens Bank Park to help the Philadelphia Phillies clean energy movement - Red Goes Green. The Red Goes Green Team consists of volunteers from local schools, volunteer organizations and environmental groups, who help with the Phillies' recycling efforts by collecting recyclable plastic and aluminum bottles during Phillies home games.

The Field Hockey Team participated in a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness. They sold t-shirts that raised $600 with the money being donated to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Center.
