ADEI Committee

The Athletics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (ADEI) was formed at Arcadia University in September 2021 following more than a year of intentional work by department members after the murder of George Floyd and national outcry for social justice. The committee intends to organize and advance the department’s important work around social justice, anti-racism, and inclusion. The committee will consist of athletics administrators, staff, coaches, student-athletes, athletic alumni, and campus partners outside of athletics.

The committee’s goals are to:

  • Create, maintain, and promote an inclusive environment within Arcadia Athletics that prioritizes the experiences of student-athletes and staff who come from a wide range of backgrounds;
  • Develop socially-conscious and inclusive leaders in our student-athletes;
  • Equip staff and coaches with the knowledge and resources to have meaningful conversations about social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism;
  • Provide access to education on key topics to staff and student-athletes in an effort to reduce bias and discrimination around intersectional identities, including race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, and gender identity;
  • Develop strategies and lead initiatives that promote an environment that values inclusion and celebrates the diversity within our community; and

The committee will take a comprehensive look at all current and future educational and programmatic areas with a special focus on:
