Jimmy Gulden is entering his tenth season as assistant baseball coach in 2025.
The Knights went 22-14-1 in his first season with the program, which saw his pitching staff rank second in the MAC Commonwealth in ERA (3.58) and third in opponent's batting average (.273). Reliever Joseph Warren had a career year under Gulden, earning all-conference honors for the first time after posting a record of 3-0 with four saves in his 12 appearances out of the bullpen, racking up 31 strikeouts over his 25.2 innings of work.
Gulden arrived at Arcadia following a three-year run as assistant coach at Susquehanna University, where he worked primarily with the Crusaders’ pitchers and catchers, including the 2014 Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year. Eight Susquehanna student-athletes, including three pitchers, earned all-conference honors, including one American Baseball Coaches Association and D3Baseball.com all-region selection.
The Crusaders had what is considered their most successful season in program history in 2014, winning a program-record 30 games on their way to capturing the Landmark Conference title. Susquehanna, which won a program-record 15 consecutive games and set new record for team ERA (2.81), went on to go 2-2 at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship.
Gulden began his coaching career at Bucknell University, where in six seasons he helped lead the Bison to two Patriot League postseason championships (2008, 2010) and one regular season Patriot League title (2009). Gulden work with the team’s catchers and served as Bucknell’s hitting coach, and during his time there the Bison set single-season team records in nearly every offensive category.
A total of 16 position players earned all-Patriot League honors during Gulden’s tenure at Bucknell, including one freshman All-American and one Capital One Academic All-American.
Gulden was drafted out of Lewisburg Area High School by the Montreal Expos in the 2000 Major League Baseball Entry Draft before accepting a scholarship to play baseball at Virginia Tech. After two seasons in Blacksburg he transferred to Cleveland State University, where he played two seasons for the Vikings and earned his bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in business management. Gulden went on to earn his master’s in sports administration at Lock Haven University in 2014.
