Travis Thome will enter his first season as a member of the Arcadia University baseball staff, where he will primarily work with the pitchers, as well as assistant in recruiting.

Thome came to Arcadia after serving as the head baseball coach at Eastern Maine Community College, where was charged with starting the baseball program in 2012. He led the Golden Eagles to a conference tournament berth in his first season, and EMCC went on the place second at the Fall 2013 New England Collegiate Association Tournament. Thome additionally served as Sports Information Director for the college’s 10 intercollegiate teams, which included launching and maintaining the school’s first athletic website.

Thome is very familiar with the Commonwealth Conference after being a starting pitcher for four years at Messiah College. He set several career and single-season records for Falcons’ during his collegiate career. Thome set new career marks for appearances (47), starts (40) and innings pitched (251), and set the single-season records for starts (12), innings pitched (86.1) as a senior in 2011.

Thome won 17 games and totaled 218 career strikeouts while helping lead Messiah to a pair of Commonwealth Conference Championships and NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances in 2008 and 2011. He had a career-year as a senior, winning six games with a career-best 3.75 earned run average and a career and team-high 80 strikeouts.

Thome earned his bachelor’s in health and physical education with a teaching certificate from Messiah in 2011, and is currently working towards his master’s in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University.

A native of Schaefferstown, Pa., Thome is a 2007 graduate of Eastern Lebanon County School District, where he led baseball team to District 3 runner-up finish and school’s first State Tournament appearance.

Thome is relocating to the Philadelphia area with wife, Amy, and their two dogs, Ruby and Wrangler.
