Vincent Pietrangelo is entering his third season as the Head Coach of the Men's Ice Hockey Team. Pietrangelo was hired in September of 2019 to lead the men's ice hockey team into its inaugural season in 2021-22.
Pietrangelo spent three seasons as the assistant men's ice hockey coach for the State University of New York at Canton, where he served as the lead assistant. During the 2018-19 season, Pietrangelo helped lead the Kangaroos to a 14-9-2 record for the program's most wins since the 2011-12 season. SUNY Canton also had key wins over #14 Fredonia and #3 Adrian College, which marked the team's highest ranked victory in program history.
The Kangaroos finished with a 7-16-2 record in his first two seasons with the squad. During the 2017-18 season, SUNY Canton secured their first ranked victory in program history with a 4-3 win against #8 Plattsburgh State in the team's season opener. Pietrangelo also helped acquire one of the nation's top recruiting classes, which was ranked 13th overall by Neutral Zone.
In 2017, Pietrangelo took on the role of Assistant Director of Intramural Sports at SUNY Canton. His duties included planning, coordinating and scheduling multiple athletic leagues for the university's student body.
Before joining SUNY Canton, Pietrangelo worked as an assistant coach at Ferris State University for the 2015-16 season. His duties included skill development, video breakdown, statistical analysis and practice planning. The Bulldogs finished with a 20-15-6 overall record and captured the WCHA Final Five Championship.
A defenseman, Pietrangelo played his collegiate hockey at Finlandia University - where he was one of two freshmen to dress every game during the 2010-2011 season. Pietrangelo was also drafted second overall in the 2009 CSHL Draft by the Metro Jets.
Pietrangelo graduated with a bachelor of science in healthcare services administration from Ferris State University in 2015 and earned his masters in sport management from SUNY Cortland in 2021.
