Mark Cameron begins his first season on staff as an assistant coach for Arcadia in 2019.
Cameron comes to Arcadia after coaching the last two seasons at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J., where he was in charge of goalies and assisted with the defense. Cameron was also the director of Central Bergen Lacrosse and the program’s goalie specialist. Cameron also coached at the University of Southern Maine during the 1994 season where he coached the defense and goalies.
A goaltender, Cameron was a four-year member of the VMI Lacrosse program, where he still ranks ninth all-time in saves. Cameron also was a team captain at Cape Elizabeth and helped lead his team to a high school state championship. After college, Cameron played with both the Beck’s and Harpoon Lacrosse Clubs in 1996-1997, and then with the U.S. Marine Corps Men’s Lacrosse Club from 1999-2001.
Cameron is a retired Marine Infantry Officer and commanded at the platoon, company, and task force levels. He is a former commander of the Marine Corps security force at Guantanamo Bay. Cameron is also a decorated combat veteran in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Cameron, a native of Cape Elizabeth, M.E., graduated from VMI with a B.A. in history in 1995.
