Rose Katz-Gobeli enters her ninth season at the helm of the women’s basketball program in 2022-23. She became the 11th head coach in the NCAA Division III era of the program following her hire in April 2014.
Katz-Gobeli holds a 90-123 (.423) record in her eight seasons on the Knights’ bench. She coached 2016 graduate Addy Crenny to a pair of First-Team All-MAC Commonwealth selections, along with Maureen Fiocca to a second-team nod in 2017. Taylor Dunn was named to the All-MAC Commonwealth First-team following both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
In 2021-22, Julia Makowski (Second Team) and Mara Weaver (Honorable Mention) earned All-MAC Freedom honors following a 7-9 season in league play.
In her seventh season with the Knights, Katz-Gobeli led her squad to a 6-5 overall record with a 5-3 conference mark during an abbreviated 2021 campaign. The Knights produced two all-conference selections in the same season for the first time in the MAC-era. Julia Makowski garnered First-Team All-MAC Freedom, while Taylor Fritz received second-team recognition.
Katz-Gobeli led the Knights to a 12-13 overall record in 2019-20, including a 7-9 mark in MAC Commonwealth contests, marking the third-straight season with a double digit win total. She oversaw senior Taylor Dunn earn First-team All-MAC Commonwealth honors for the second-consecutive season in addition to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team laurels, marking the program's first-ever selection.
Arcadia finished 12-14 overall and 9-7 in league play in 2018-19, earning the No. 4 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championships and hosting a postseason game for the first time in program history.
In 2017-18, the Knights posted an 11-14 record, marking the third time in Katz-Gobeli's four years at the helm that AU has reached a double-digit win total. She led Arcadia to a 12-14 record in her first season, qualifying for the MAC Commonwealth playoffs for the first time since joining the league for the 2007-08 season. In her second season, Arcadia held a 10-15 record.
Katz-Gobeli came to Arcadia after leading the women's basketball program at Emory & Henry College the previous three seasons, where she turned around a struggling Wasps' program and coached the 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference scholar-athlete of the year. She also served as adviser to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
An assistant coach at MAC Commonwealth rival Widener University from 2008 to 2011, she was responsible for recruiting, monitoring academic progress, film exchange, coordinating team travel, and fundraising. The Pride won the Commonwealth title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament in 2008-09.
Widener had a 53-29 overall record during her tenure, had five All-Commonwealth Conference selections (four of which were First-Team honorees), and the league's 2009 and 2010 Rookie of the Year recipients. One of those honorees was two-time WBCA All-American and Philadelphia Inquirer/Philly-SIDA Academic Performer of the Year Kate Dellinger, who was a key member of the Pride when Widener reached the national quarterfinals in 2012-13.
Katz-Gobeli first coached at the AAU level, guiding the South Jersey Jazz from 2004 to 2007 to a pair of top-10 finishes at the AAU National tournament. In 2007-08, She moved to the Philadelphia Belles, which won the 2008 Boo Williams Tournament and finished second in the USJN Tournament in Washington, D.C. She coached the Philadelphia Inquirer's 2009 and 2010 South Jersey high school player of the year.
She was a four-year member of the basketball team at DeSales University, where she served as team captain her senior year. Katz-Gobeli helped lead the Bulldogs to a 26-4 record in the 2007-08 season, winning the Freedom Conference Championship and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. She also helped DeSales capture the 2005 ECAC Division III South Championship.
Katz-Gobeli earned a bachelor of science in sport management from DeSales in May 2008 and a master of science in sport management from Drexel University in 2010. She currently resides in Warminster with her husband, Sam, daughter, Charlotte, and dog, Biscuit.
