Albright outpowers Knights in MAC dual

READING, PA:  (Nov. 13, 2010) -  [Results] Albright College wasted no time mounting sizeable leads in men's and women's events as the Lions swept Arcadia University Swimming in Middle Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon in Reading.  The Lions relinquished just one first place win to Arcadia's Catey Nunnari '13 who blasted her way through the water to win  the 1000 Freestyle by ten seconds (12:24.14) over Albright's Zoe Rathgeber.  Final scores were Men (112-66) and Women (113-80), both in favor of the Lions. 

Arcadia's women would combine to set six new personal best times with three new personal records on the men's team.   Rebecca Wenner 'GR, Lindsay Mills '13, Danielle DiSanto '11 and Stephanie Bartolotta '11 placed hird and set a new team best in the 200 Medley Relay (2:10.11) which preceeced Nunnari's victory in the 1000 Free.  In the 200 Free, Bartolotta's second place finish was also a personal best (2:12.75).  Wenner placed 4th in the 50 Free (2:41.40) while Mills (2:41.49) and Caitlin Culhane '12 (2:50.43, new personal best) placed two-three in the 200 IM.  Tess Geib '12 finished third in the 100 Fly (1:10.51) and Mills landed in second place in the 100 Free (1:02.81), while DiSanto (1:12.12), Katie Nagy '14 (1:18.61, new personal best) and Kayla Kroll '11 (1:23.51) finished four-five-six in the 100 Backstroke.  Finishing two-three-four in the 500 Free were Nunnari (6:08.32), Gina Ruppert '11 (6:19.63, new personal best) and Coni Kroll '14 (6:44.27) but the Lions had already mounted a sizeable 113-69 lead with two events to go.  Culhane would set a personal best time with her 3rd place time in the 100 Breaststroke (1:22.10) while Geib, Coni Kroll, Nunnari and Ruppert rounded out the afternoon with a 4th place finish in the 200 Free Relay. 

Aaron Knock '12 was the top finisher for Arcadia's men with a second place time in the 50 Free (23.67).  As best as the Knights could finish after that would be 3rd, taking seven third place finishes on the afternoon.  Steve Haasis '11, Dillon Grady '13, Joe Blake '13 and Peter Hamilton '14 teamed to take third in the 200 Medley Relay (2:02.19), while Knock, Grady, Patrick Ward '13 and Jason Sharpe '11 ended the day with a 1:38.78 final time in the 200 Free Relay.  Sean Robinson '14 earned third in the 1000 Free (12:36.69) with Hassis adding another bronze in the 200 Freestyle (2:14.23) and a new personal best for Hamilton in the same event (2:30.58).  Ward took third (2:27.23) and Grady fourth (2:30.81) in the 200 IM.  Sharpe placed third (1:00.14), a new personal best, and Robinson fifth (1:15.49) in the 100 Butterfly, Knock third (52.97) and Blake fifth (1:01.43) in the 100 Freestyle while Haasis (1:07.59) and Ward (1:10.13) placed third and fifth respectively in the 100 Backstroke.  Hamilton set a new personal best in the 500 Free (6:09.63) and Blake added a fourth place time in the 50 Free (25.22) to round out the men's side of things. 

The Knights remain the road team for their next two meets, traveling to Goucher College (Md.) on Nov. 20 and then off to Bryn Mawr for a double-dual with the host Owls (Women only) and Carbrini (Men and Women) on Dec. 1.  The Knights return home to host NCAA Division III newcomer Marywood University on Dec. 4 slated for a 1 PM start in the Lenox Pool.
