Taylor nets 23 in Knights 67-50 win at Lancaster Bible College

LANCASTER, PA (Dec. 9, 2010) -  Junior Christine Taylor scored 23 points on 50% shooting and took care of 8 rebounds to lead Arcadia Women's Basketball past host Lancaster Bible College 67-50.  Although the Knights won by 17, it remained a one-possession game, 26-25 in Arcadia's favor with 14:32 to play in the game.  Scoring a season high in points, tonight's win is the team's second straight, and second straight on the road as they improve to 4-5 overall.

Sophomore Angie Adams scored 5 of her 10 points from the free throw line and dished out a game high 10 assists.  Senior Corrine Geiger scored 8 points and finished with a game high 12 rebounds.  For Geiger, it was the second straight game with 12 or more caroms.  Sophomore Jackie Law netted 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds while senior Kelly Donahue sank all three of her three point attempts to finish with 9 points.  For the Chargers, Vanessa Clemenson and Nicele Karschner scored 12 points apiece while Lacy McClaine finished with 11.

The lead would change hands six times in the early going.  McClaine netted a three pointer at 12:54 to give the Chargers the 12-11 advantage, and although it would be the final time Lancaster Bible would hold a lead, the Chargers came within one possession on two more occassions.  A Donahue three at 12:14 put Arcadia back on top for good 14-12 while Taylor would strike for three at 11:31 giving the Knights a 17-12 lead.  Adams dished out both assists on the back-to-back Arcadia three pointers.  Law was finally able to put Arcadia up 10 with 6:30 to play in the half and although the Knights would go up by 12, they allowed the Chargers a 12-1 run, missing 8 straight shots, taking just a one-point lead into halftime, 26-25.

The Chargers continued to threaten in the second half, still down by one with 14:32.  Arcadia was able to pull away for good when Law put her team back up by ten with 5:23 to go.  The Knights would close the game on an 11-4 run and went 6-10 from the free throw line in the final 1:30 for the 67-50 victory.

The two teams battled on the glass all night, with Arcadia taking a small advantage in rebounds by game's end, 46-44.  Lancaster Bible committed more turnovers, 23-11.

The Knights will wait eight days before they attempt their third straight win, hosting visiting California Institute of Technology, Friday, Dec. 17 at 6 PM.  The Knights will then continue play in 2011, traveling to non-conference host Marywood University on Jan. 6.
