Quick start propels women's soccer past Stockton 2-1 at Drew Fall Festival

MADISON, NJ:  (Sept 11, 2010) -  Arcadia University Women's Soccer took a 1-0 lead just two minutes into this afternoon's non-conference game with the Ospreys of Stockton College and scored again in the 22nd minute to break a 1-1 stalemate and picked up their third win of the season at the Drew University Fall Festival.  The Knights, now 3-2, will play host Drew tomorrow.  The Rangers knocked off Alvernia by a 2-1 score in today's second game for their third straight win.

Arcadia's opening score came off one of their game high 6 corner chances when senior Stephanie Edson (Milton, PA/Milton) tallied her first score of the season off the pass from senior Janelle Jablonski (Orchard Park, NY,Orchard Park).  The Ospreys would knot the score at 1-1 on a penalty kick from Leah Pocoroba at 15:08.  Six minutes later, senior Katie O'Malley (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area) was awarded the free kick from right outside the 18 and was dead on target, striking the back of the net for the go-ahead goal at 21:55 giving Arcadia the 2-1 lead.  It was O'Malley's third score of the season. The goal forced Osprey keeper Maria Dorris, who made one stop, to the bench for replacement keeper Brittany Boyle, who finished with 4 saves.

Sophomore keeper Jackie Law (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains Fanwood) secured her second win of the season, making one save on Stockton's two shots on goal for the game.  The Knights led in shots 14-6 and corners 6-5.
