Offense sputters at #5 Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, PA:  (Sept. 21, 2010) -  Arcadia University Men's Soccer relinquished a 1-0 lead and dropped a 3-1 non-conference match up to the #5 Garnett of Swarthmore College this evening on the road.  The loss drops the Knights overall record to 3-4, while Swarthmore remains undefeated at 7-0.

The Knight's offense, struggling as of late with only three goals in their last four contests, received scoring from senior Jeff McDonald (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge).  McDonald, who scored 2:07 into overtime to break a scoreless game at Goucher College over the weekend, received a pass from first year Nick Morris (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) in the 11th minute of tonight's game, putting Arcadia on the board first, a lead they would hold for nearly 45 minutes, before the Garnett took control of the game.

Leading 1-0 at the half, the Knights saw limited oppotunities to create scoring chances, only registering 3 second half shots and six total for the game.  The Garnett on the other hand, sent in 11 second half shots and scored on three of them, first tying the game at one goal apeice in the 56th minute.  Swarthmore's Morgan Langley, who scored the goal, would then dish out an assist on the go-ahead tally by Micah Rose at 61:37.  The Garnett sealed the victory with their third unanswered score at 84:55 from Fabian Castro off a feed from Kieran Reichert.

Swarthmore held the 16-6 shot advantage and 10-2 edge in corners.  First year keeper Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville) made four saves between the pipes for the Knights, while his counterpart David D'Annunzio made one.

The Knights will vy to even their overall record when they take on rival DeSales University this Saturday at 3:30 pm in Center Valley, PA.  Live stats will be available at kick-off.
