Bertucci lifts Knights to win at Widener

CHESTER, Pa.:  First year Joseph Bertucci (Giblosboro, NJ/Eastern Regional) scored in the 85th minute, on the game's first and only goal, to lift Arcadia University Men's Soccer to a 1-0 win at Commonwealth opponent Widener University Tuesday evening in conference play.  The Knights improve to 2-1 within the league and 7-6 overall with tonight's win. 

Junior Zach Todd (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Twp.) assisted on the Bertucci game winner, the first collegiate goal for the first year coming at 84:45 of tonight's contest.  The assist for Todd, was his fifth of the year.

Arcadia held the edge in shots 10-8 while corner opportunities were even at three apiece. 

With tonight's win, the Knights look to Saturday's opponent, Lycoming College, as the next step to improving in the league standings.  Widener remains winless in league play at 0-3 and drops to 3-8-2 overall. 

Sophomore keeper Ryan Lantzy (Pheonixville, PA/Pheonixville) got the start in goal this evening and finished the contest with 2 stops on the Pride in the second half to earn the shutout.

Arcadia plays host to Commonwealth foe Lycoming College on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. following the women's game at 12 Noon against the Warriors.
